<sub>You'll find here some basic information about the options of community service that's available, including links to websites, social media pages and videos.

It is really important to note that:
- Most services will have their own criteria that needs to be met in order for them to consider a placement and require their own assessments before a place would be offered.</sub> 

<sub>- can allow a young person to have a bespoke, person-centred service which can be reviewed/adapted regularly and easily.
- personal assistants giving the community service often can drive the young person themselves (in the young person's mobility car) or can accompany them on the bus helping transport concerns.
- flexibility of time - a number of community based services offer day, evening, weekend and even overnight services so can organise their service around the young person/the families needs.
- allow for 'real life' experiences and building life skills in the community - e.g. visiting a doctor's surgery and how to manage this; travel training; learning how to use a library etc.
- any future 'transition points', can be easier to manage and can be done over a longer time period (e.g. their personal assistant providing the community service can accompany them to a volunteer placement/supported employment with the same/similar support etc.).
- As there is no physical building belonging to the service, the capacity of the service is not limited by this.
- If attending college and there is a need for 1-1 support while there, the service can feel more 'joined up' (as part of your 'timetable').</sub>

_{- Some parents and young people have expressed concerns that the community based services do not have have their own building. However, a timetable can be made up of community/local services within buildings and can allow for more flexibility/choice/options.}
