It also allows customers to give their opinion and feedback directly to us. For example, we sell the product during face-to-face class and Entrepreneur Day Carnival.

-Social Media (WhatsApp and Instagram): Through WhatsApp and Instagram, we can engage with our customers by sharing updates and  promotions via  whatsapp status, Instagram’s story and post. So, we can also respond to inquiries from the customers. Customers can place orders and view our latest update via these platforms.

-Customer Feedback through Surveys: We always take note of customer feedback and regularly use surveys to understand their experiences and preferences. Usually we use Whatsapp platform to easily keep in touch with customers. This alternative allows us to improve our products and services. This is crucial to meet our customer’s expectations and maintain our customer satisfaction. So, it will maintain our position in the marketplace.

Packaging the Product: We emphasized food safety in our Batik Cakes’s packaging to ensure they delivered  in perfect condition and prevent contamination. This involves using Sellotape because staplers can leave metal fragments  in the packaging and it will endanger our customers. This also ensures our batik cake packaging is clean and hygienic.

Collecting Orders: Collecting orders is a crucial activity. We are collecting orders via Google Forms, face-to-face interactions, and social media platforms such as Instagram and Whatsapp. By this platform, it allows the customer to easily place their orders. Customers usually prefer online banking for easy and fast payment. 

Delivery: We will ensure that customers receive their Batik Cakes on time. We carefully package and deliver the cakes to our customers to achieve customer’s satisfaction. We also set the delivery charge. For example, students from Cempaka college will get free delivery. Customers from Bunga raya College, Tun Ahmad Zaidi College, Dahlia College and Alamanda College need to pay RM1 for delivery charge. Customers from Sakura College need to pay RM 2 for the delivery. 

Advertising: Advertising is crucial to promote our Batik Cakes to the customers. We use social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp to share updates, promotions, and share the images of our batik cakes that look mouthwatering to attract new customers and also the loyal customers to buy our product.

-Cost of packaging : We have 2 sizes of packaging which are small and big. 1 small pack is RM 0.35 and a big pack is RM 0.17.

Delivery Service: We also earn income from our delivery service. Customers can choose a delivery service to make their Batik Cakes delivered to their location. So, we will charge a delivery fee based on the distance. For example, students from Cempaka college will get free delivery. Customers from Bunga raya College, Tun Ahmad Zaidi College, Dahlia College and Alamanda College need to pay RM1 for delivery charge. Customers from Sakura College need to pay RM 2 for the delivery. 

Direct Selling: Direct selling allows customers to directly place their order and ask some questions about our product.  This allows us to build strong connections with our customers. For example, we sell the product during face-to-face class and Entrepreneur Day Carnival. This alternative leads us to get the highest profit.

• Our product is “Chocolate Kek Batik” which is the most viral dessert today and the most important thing is that it is homemade because we use premium ingredients.

• Our business is online only and the social media platform we use to start the business and advertise is via WhatsApp and Instagram.

• Next, our operating hours are from 9 am to 6 pm. Meanwhile, for customer orders, we will share the order link to customers via WhatsApp and Instagram. We only accept orders and pre-orders every day.

• Our business location is at the University of Sarawak (Unimas).

• Our business is a partnership consisting of six members who join and have equal partnerships to start the business. Each of our members also spends money and shares for capital to buy product packaging materials such as, cake containers, plastic bags, and packaging stickers.

Customer problem:

The problem faced by customers is the delivery issue, where some customers may face problems when the cake is not delivered on time, especially if they bought it for an important occasion or a specific occasion. This happens because we only deliver within the Unimas area and currently we also do not have transportation to deliver outside the Unimas area.

Apart from that, delivery the wrong batik cake order. Where our customers receive a different batik cake than the one ordered. Such as, in term of different cake sizes, which can cause disappointment.

Solution:

To solve the delivery problem, we will provide a faster delivery system using Grab services to facilitate the delivery process in the future. In addition, we will also expand delivery locations outside the Unimas area for our customers.

To improve our service, we have taken action by refining the order picking and delivery process to ensure that each order is delivered accurately and in accordance with customer requests.
