I have the privilege of caring for my grandma, who is 70 years old. Although she is quite independent and manages her daily activities well, I love assisting her in different ways. For example, I often take her to places she enjoys, like the park or community events, which helps her stay socially active. I also prepare nutritious meals that cater to her tastes and spend quality time with her, engaging in conversations and activities we both enjoy. Occasionally, I help with light housekeeping to ensure her home is comfortable. Caring for my grandma has truly enriched my understanding on the importance of companionship in enhancing the quality of life for older adults.

I do have some experience taking care of the elderly. Right now, I work part-time helping an elderly man who is about 80 years old with his rehabilitation exercises. My job includes fall prevention, disinfecting equipment, making sure he is using the right muscles during exercise, and assisting him when he needs to go to the restroom.

Back in high school, I also volunteered at a day-care center for the elderly. The people there mostly had mild dementia, and my role was to accompany them in different activities, like writing, playing bingo, and doing some rehabilitation exercises.

Yes, I have taken care of an elderly person, and that was my grandfather who is over 65 years old. He once fell from a chair and had to see an orthopedic doctor, and later he was hospitalized for further examinations. Before that, he also showed symptoms like drowsiness and slurred speech, which made us worry that it might be a warning sign of a stroke. During his hospitalization, I often helped my family by delivering meals and also stayed at the hospital to assist my grandfather, such as supporting him when he needed to go to the restroom. In addition, I spent time chatting and watching TV with him, trying to make him feel more comfortable and in better spirits.

During the summer vacation, I participated in providing essential oil massage services at long-term care facilities. I noticed that the elderly residents in different institutions often showed different conditions. Some had relatively good functional abilities, while others had poorer cognitive abilities. However, during the massage process, I still felt fulfilled knowing that I was able to help relieve their fatigue.

Yes, I have had experience taking care of my grandfather, and it was both a meaningful and eye-opening experience. One of my main responsibilities was accompanying my grandfather during his daily morning walks. Rain or shine, I would walk beside him, making sure he was steady on his feet and didn’t lose his balance. These moments weren’t just physical support—they were also emotional. We would talk about his younger days, current events, or simply enjoy the quiet of the early morning.

In addition to exercise, I also reminded him to take his medications on time, prepared light meals when needed, and helped him with simple tasks like organizing his belongings or reading small print. I paid close attention to his mood and energy levels, and made sure he always felt safe and cared for.

Sometimes, caregiving also meant simply being present—sitting with him, listening, and sharing laughter. These small things made a big difference in his day. Through this experience, I learned the importance of patience, empathy, and consistency in caring for elderly people.

Yes, I had the experience of taking care of elderly before. My grandfather on my biological father side had been suffering from low back pain since January 2025. He described the symptoms as stinging pain and the osteophytes has made him difficult to sleep. Despite being treated with injections and medicines, he can't remove the osteophytes through surgery due to Sarcopenia, thus he's now confined to bed in most of the day time. We afraid that he'll only loss more muscle and more mobility laying in bed, thus I'll accompany him for a leisure walk nearby our house from time to time, chatting with him while we visit.

He not only needed dialysis but also had Alzheimer’s disease. When I took him outside in a wheelchair to enjoy the sunshine in the park, he often asked me where we were, even though we had been there many times before. He also sometimes asked me who I was.

When I was a child, my grandfather was very healthy and caring—he cooked for us and I loved visiting his home. So now, whenever I have the chance to be with him, I try my best to talk to him. I even share my bodybuilding training experiences with him, because he also liked fitness in the past, although he may not remember it anymore. In some ways, it feels like taking care of a child, but with the respect and love I have for him as my grandfather.

My grandparents don’t live with us, and they’re all still healthy and mobile, so they don’t need any special care.

I have done an internship at the day care center of Cheng Hsin General Hospital, where the staff guided elderly individuals with dementia through various activities. These included interacting with therapy dogs and playing games designed to stimulate hand-eye coordination. My main role there was to accompany and support the elderly participants. If someone became distracted and couldn’t keep up with the activities, I would assist them in following along. For those who were hard of hearing, I would repeat the instructions softly by their ear, and I also helped participants who had difficulty with fine motor skills complete the activities.

Yes, I have taken care of my grandfather and my grandmother. I live with my grandparents. I usually remind them to take their medicine and take them for medical check-ups. Even though they are already in their nineties, they are still very healthy. Sometimes I will chat with them or drive them to go shopping.

I don’t have direct experience taking care of the elderly, but I am very willing to learn and adapt. I understand that caring for seniors requires patience, kindness, and responsibility, and I believe I can develop these skills with proper guidance and training. In my past experiences, I have always been attentive and dependable when supporting others, and I am confident that I can apply these qualities to elderly care as well.

Yes, i have taken care of the elder over 65 year old back in the days when i was a student nurse. What i had to do was to turn over her body every 2 hours in order to prevent her from bed sores because her muscle power was too low to accomplish it herself. When I first met her, she already had a stage 4 pressure ulcer on her lower back, which meant the ulcer was so deep that I could see her lumbar spine exposing.

She was a 70 years old, long term bed resting patient with type 2 DM condition, so the primary caring plan was to prevent more pressure ulcers from developing, and to keep the stage 4 pressure ulcer from getting worse.

Yes, I have some experience of taking care of the elders when I went to trainee in a institution named 老五老 last semester. There are some lessons for the elders to improve their health and mind. Lessons have two part. In the first part we'll have some exercise including dancing and ball playing. During this activity the elders may find doing some movement hard then I'll will give them assistance like repeat the movement slowly. After sweating exercise we'll have some mental improving game. During the game the elders are asked to remember color, shape, or animal and follow the rule to complete more levels. In addition to help them remember, I also need to check their basic status like some people need help to go to bathroom, or other people may lose focus in the class and I need to remind them.
