The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the ocean in the world and it is located in the Pacific. It is 36,200ft deep, if Mt Everest was placed at the bottom of the Mariana Trench 7,171ft of water would be still showing above. At the bottom the water pressure is so intense it is 4 tons per square centimetre, the equivalent of 50 jumbo jets piled on top of a person.
