Currently Silicon rules the electronics industry. Gallium Nitride could change the world for a whole new generation of miniaturized tech. Gallium Nitride could be the silicon of the future. It is a really good conductor because it makes items like chargers into smaller objects. Electric cars, use only gallium nitride which makes them much more efficient than normal cars.

"Although moderately mobile, marine cone snails have perfected several strategies to capture prey. Some fish-hunting species release venom into the surrounding water. Within the plume of toxic venom, the fish succumbs to fast-acting insulin that renders it immobile. As the fish flounders, the snail emerges from its shell to swallow the pacified victim whole." Researchers at University of Utah have uncovered a fast-acting insulin derived from the venom the marine cone snail. This discovery is highly beneficial to the livelihood of diabetic patients. The original insulin was made from pigs and cows, so this marine creature has bettered this industry.

Although they have only tested in labs with pressurized carbon dioxide from tanks they plan to bring these artificial leaves into the environment. They are ten times more efficient than normal leaves in the labs. According to their calculations each leaf will be 1.7 meters long and 0.2 meters wide. Apparently if you had 360 of these leaves covering a 500-meter squared area you will be able to reduce the carbon dioxide by 10%.
This proposed solution for the carbon dioxide problem could greatly benefit our world.

According to an experiment reported on Jan 29, there can be three photons in two different places without any of them being in the same place. The pigeonhole principle states that, if three pigeons are roosting in two places, one place must contain at least two birds. But in the quantum realm, scientists had predicted that three “pigeons” — technically, quantum particles — could squeeze into two places without any one particle sharing a place with another. In the study, three photons took the place of the pigeons. Rather than crowding the photons into holes, the researchers studied the polarization of the particles, or the orientation of the photons’ wiggling electromagnetic waves, which can be either horizontal or vertical. Since there were three photons and two polarizations, standard math would suggest that at least two must have had the same polarization. When the scientists compared the particles’ polarizations, the team found that no two particles matched, verifying that the quantum pigeonhole effect is real.

Lake Natron is a very significant breeding place for lesser flamingos. Unfortunately, the lake was under threat from plans to build a soda ash factory at the site. However, in March 2017 the government announced it had abandoned those plans due to the threat they could pose to the flamingos. Plans for the lake are now turning toward ecotourism, which has the potential to both bring in revenue, and keep Lake Natron as the main spot for flamingos for years to come.
