Jehovah’s Witness (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society)

-founded in 1872
-started in Pittsburgh
-Charles Taze Russell is the founder
1. One core belief is that Witnesses believe in one God, not the Trinity. Like most Christians, they believe that Jesus Christ died for humankind's sins, however they do not believe that he was physically resurrected after his crucifixion. They believe that he was only spiritually resurrected.
2. Another belief is that only Jehovah’s Witnesses will be saved when most of the world’s population is killed at Armageddon. Witnesses use the name “Jehovah” rather than “God,” and they focus their worship on Jehovah rather than on Jesus, whom they believe was Jehovah’s only direct creation. The Holy Spirit is believed to be a force rather than a person.
3. One practice is that Jehovah’s Witnesses do not observe holidays they believe to have pagan origins, such as Christmas, Easter, and birthdays. They do not salute the national flag or sing the national anthem, and they refuse military service. They also refuse blood transfusions, even those that could be life saving.
- Jehovah Witnesses do not worship symbols; the only symbol associated with this religious branch is the Watchtower, which is only used for identification. The watchtower signifies remaining observant for acts of God fulfilling prophetic beliefs.

Seventh-day Adventist

-founded on May 21, 1863
-started in Battle Creek, Michigan
-The founders of Seventh-day Adventist Church are Ellen G. White, James Springer White, John Nevins Andrews, and Joseph Bates
1. One core belief of Seventh-day Adventist is how they see death. Unlike most other Christian denominations, Adventists hold that the dead do not go directly to heaven or hell but enter a period of "soul sleep," in which they are unconscious until their resurrection and final judgment.
2. One practice is how they perform their sacraments. Baptism is performed on believers at the age of accountability and calls for repentance and acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior. Adventists practice full immersion.
3. Another core belief deals with Heaven and Hell. At the end of the Millennium, the thousand-year reign of Christ with his saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections, Christ and the Holy City will descend from heaven to earth. The redeemed will live eternally on the New Earth, where God will dwell with his people. The condemned will be consumed by fire and annihilated.
-The logo reflects the core values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. ... Central to that biblical message is the cross, which is also a central feature of the logo. Above the cross and the open Bible is a burning flame that represents the Holy Spirit, the messenger of truth.

There are 5 core beliefs in Confucianism:

Yi – Righteousness.

Xin – Honesty and Trustworthiness.

Chung – Loyalty to the state, etc.

Li – includes ritual, propriety, etiquette, etc.

Hsiao – love within the family, love of parents for their children, and love of children for their parents.

3. Most Confucian holidays are taken from other religions. They celebrate the Chinese New Year and the Ghost Festival, among others. The two unique Confucian holidays are the Ching Ming Festival and Confucius's Birthday.
