The materials were gathered and the saran wrap (enough to cover top of container and bit of sides) was taped over the container to a tight fit. Using the ruler and sharpie provided, a line was drawn from one inside edge to the other and the measurement was recorded in centimeters. In the center of the line, 400 g was placed on the wrap and a timer was started for 1 minute. After the minute was over, the weights were taken off and the wrap was removed from the container. The "new" line was measured and recorded and the procedure was repeated. With each trial, a new amount of weight was added (600 g for the 2nd and 800 g for the 3rd) and the wrap on the container was replaced with a fresh new sheet per trial.

In order to isolate our results, our controls were the amount of time each amount of weight was placed on the wrap and the box. These were kept constant because if one amount of weight was on for longer, it could have slowly stretched it more over time and if it was not on at the same time, it could have not had the "opportunity" to stretch the material as the others.

Independent Variable: Plastic Wrap.
Dependent Variable: Weight added.

1+ 2) Even though only one type of plastic was tested, it is concluded that the plastic wrap we used was very strong and resistance. This conclusion was drawn because of the fact that the plastic did not stretch even when all of the provided "100 gram weights" were used. This is not concluding that plastic wrap is stronger than all types of plastic, it is just concluding that is it very strong from what we have tested.
3) These results suggest that in the plastic tested, or the plastic wrap, the atoms have a strong bond. The data show that the atoms within the plastic have a small odds of separation or of being pulled apart considering that in the experiment, even 800 grams did not stretch the plastic even 1/10 of a centimeter.
