He likes to paint the people doing work. Those are some of the main things in his paintings. The theme he goes with is a dirty, everyday theme, just like Gary Paulson in Hatchet. I think that he is trying to represent beauty in the ordinary with the subjects of his painting just doing everyday things. On the same note, he may have painted more women as subjects to poke fun and example the fact that maybe women do the more boring everyday chores, as men are out having fun or earning money. 

The creator I chose that is similar to Degas's style, an author, Michael Foley. He also uses a lot of darker colors and the overall feel of the painting is gloomy. His art is rough and it looks like it has a gritty texture. The women in his paintings also seem under the weather as if they aren't really enjoying what they're doing.
