         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Am I modifying assessments correctly to ensure that my students are being tested on language knowledge and not proficiency?</div><div>- Are the lessons and assessments I am provided modified to each students individual needs?</div><div>- Should I provide visuals to help with language and vocabulary on the assessment, especially if in a younger grade?</div><div>- Am I providing daily opportunities for students to speak English conformably and confidently with peers and students?</div><div>- Am I including parents/guardians in the learning process so learning of English could take place outside of the classroom as well? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- In the document, it states “ still others may use a combination of their first language an English in their homes. Some do not see the two language as separate.” As a teacher, I have seen this several times. Is there research done in regards to this that would assist teachers and ESL teachers on how to help students separate the two languages in a positive manner? Both language represent and culture and are equally important, but how do you diminish the use of the combination of languages when students are speaking or writing? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- modify lessons and assessments for ELLs to give them an opportunity to achieve their best academic results</div><div>- identify what their first language is and if their is anyone in the classroom with the same first language, but also try to identify any similarities between their first language and English</div><div>- create a positive environment that will encourage use of new concepts</div><div>- have daily discussions and repeat the use of vocabulary </div><div>- backwards design for students when trying to achieve learning expectations as every students has the same end goal, but the process to achieving it is very different </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- difference between the ability with BICS, which is everyday English and CALP, which is academic English</div><div>- Canadian-born ELL students generally perform poorly on assessments because first of all assessment is not catered to their specific knowledge of languages and secondly the assessment tests language proficiency, not knowledge</div><div>- Canadian born ELLs struggle, which is proven, but theories have specifically proven this by looking at academic test results </div>]]></description>
