He doesn't stray from said routine that often and when that did get interrupted he didn't know what to do with himself. That broke that somber shell and now he's in more touch with his surroundings which makes me think that he might be a more genuine guy as a whole.

My opinion on Montag has changed. I feel after reading the second portion of the story, you see the more caring side of Montag. In the first portion of the story Montag seems almost obsessive towards fire and his job, but through the second part of the story you almost find out why. You learn that life in his home is not the greatest which may be why he longs to go to work and burn books. I think the second portion shows some of the corruption Montag has gone through and why he is so sick towards burning items. He has control.

He seems like someone that thinks they deserve more respect than they actually do, probably because of his high position in society as a law enforcement officer. I do think that he is probably one of the most open to different opinions and ideas of the people in his society, as shown by how he follows some of Clarisse's advice and wants to learn more about the conversations that her family has.

I can also tell that Guy is wanting to know more about her and what her thoughts are on different things. From this line: " 'You're not like the others. I've seen a few; I know. When I talk, you look at me. When I said something about the moon, you looked at the moon, last night.' " (Bradbury, 21). Clarisse is saying that she enjoys being around Guy because he actually listens to her. Based on this, I would describe their relationship as good friends and nothing more.

My opinion of Guy really has changed more than I expected it to. I did really despise him at first for what he did, burning books and houses (FYI Guy, houses are NOT fireproof). However, he seems like a genuinely lost person just having an identity crisis with a wife who is in denial that she's an addict on sleeping pills who wants to blow off all their money on TV parlors. So yeah, I guess I don't really blame him for doing the things he does, that's just his job. I know if I had a wife or husband like that, I would be in a pretty bad place myself. Society totally sucks in his world.

I think Guy see them selves as really good friends or maybe even a father figure and daughter. Guy has changed as a human because of her presence in his life and I think that is more important to Guy than and flat screen TV is. We see him constantly thinking about her and he even compare her to Mildred when he says "How Strange. And my wife thirty and yet you seem so much older at times." (Bradbury 21). I think he likes her depth thinking and how wise she is and he wishes in that Mildred was more like that.

One adjective to describe Mildred is dreary. Her days seem to go by slowly as if every day of her life and her whole attitude towards life is overcast. She reminds me of rain clouds that cover the entire sky, and I think that she has that affect when Guy sees her. He always seems dissapointed but not surprised when he interacts with her, like when you know that the weather will be cloudy and sad the next day but there's nothing you can do to stop it. She also has this effect on herself of course, by immersing herself in whatever she listens to in her earbuds or whatever she watches on TV to distract herself from the life she's in, as if she's in a cloud of media to distract herself from her current life.

After seeing Guy and Clarisse' interactions, I would describe their relationship as best friends. I think this because of the way she springs herself onto him and has no hesitation when asking him whatever. Guy is slowly starting to become more comfortable and confide in her in a way so subtle that I don't think he even notices yet. "And then, very slowly, as he walked, he tilted his head back in the rain, for just a few moments, and opened his mouth...." (Bradbury 21). He did this after she told him the rain tastes like wine. I think that if he never met her, he wouldn't have become so open to ideas and such. Guy also has an impact on Clarisse because he gives her somebody to let all her curiosity onto when her mind takes her to 100 different places. She opened up to him about her psychiatrist and I think that is another step closer to a great relationship they will create further on. "'I've got to go to see my psychiatrist now. They make me go. I made up things to say. I don't know what he thinks of me. He says I'm a regular onion! I keep him busy peeling away the layers'"(Bradbury 20).

I believe Clarisse sees through Guy's facade of being cool and unfazed by the world that's surrounding him, and frankly being proud of what he's done. As we see through the text, that's clearly not the case with him feeling like his world is being "split in two" and having a full on identity crisis. Clarisse makes Guy think about his life, she gives him something to actually think about rather than dwell in his own personal life. She makes him really think about this "society" he thinks is so good. I like this quality about her.

She tells him things he's never thought or know of like, "Did you know that billboards used to be 20 feet long...Theres dew on the grass in the morning...long ago firemen used to put fires out instead of going to start them," (Bradbury 7). Guy never sees beyond things and how they are or were. Clarisse always challenges him to see society in a way he's never thought of.

I think that Clarisse is the final push that Guy needs in order to see whats wrong with what he does. That first "are you happy?" question that Clarisse asks introduces Guy to his new discomfort with his life and hearing about all the outlandish things that Clarisse and her family do intrigues Guy into wanting to learn more about what life would be like if he lived like Clarisse. This is why I think he thinks it's so easy to forgive Clarisse. I also think that when Clarisse says "I'm crazy" every time they meet up, this is her way of saying that it's OK with her if he thinks that the way she talks and thinks is weird, and she doesn't care. I think Clarisse is confused by Guy because of the way he behaves and how that doesn't correlate to his profession. This is shown when Clarisse says "When I said something about the moon, you looked at the moon, last night. The others would never do that. The others would walk off and leave me talking. Or threaten me. No one has time any more than anyone else. You're one of the few who put up with me. That's why I think it's so strange you're a fireman, it just doesn't seem right for you, somehow." (Bradbury 21). This part shows us that Clarisse thinks that Guy is different from the other firefighters she has met in the past and that she appreciates that he actually cares about what she has to say.

When Clarisse says "'You're one of the few that put up with me. That's why I think it's so strange you're a fireman, it just doesn't seem right for you, somehow.'"
