The Japanese saw it as a way to express their loyalty to their country and that they had accepted the fact they may live in the desert a long time. This all shows how patriotic and loyal the Japanese were, just how far they'd go to show their loyalty to the country.

Something that I found interesting was that a lot of people in the Japanese Internment Camps went along to the camps because they wanted to prove their loyalty to the United States. A lot of them were U.S citizens and didn't deserve to be placed in the camps because they had previously contributed to American society, but they went to show that they were willing to do more for the country.

Interestingly, there are some poeple love these camps, others hate them. For example, in the desert of my home says that she loves all these things about this camp, but in Tapaz utah he says it's lonely, dark, and dry.

Japanese Americans were able to attend College and travel out of the camps. This gave these students some freedom with some restrictions which meant the government was always controlling them and didn't give them full freedom.

Despite discrimination, Japanese Americans in camps believed that being in there proved their loyalty. And Japanese Americans who fought in the war for America wanted to show that they wanted to be there as free Americans, as stated in the poem "Faith" by Yukio Ota.

The Japanese Americans had to leave their homes, farms, and everything they had. Most were forced to give away there propertes for very low prices as no one would buy them at market price because of their race. The Japanese families had very little time to move to the camps. They had between 48 hours and a week to pack all their belongings and sell what they couldn't take with them before they were sent off. All families were also assigned a number that was attached to the people and everything they could take with them.

The United States was not fair with the shelter and goods provided was not fair to the Japanese because they were given basically the bare minimum and were treated poorly. According to the video, it said that they had to live in horse stables that were quickly cleaned until they were forced to build their own new homes. The video even said that what they were doing was a violation of the 5th and 14th Amendments, yet the supreme court still ruled it as constitutional. That is not fair at all.

In Kenji Okuda's letter he talks about how different places started to discriminate against Japanese-Americans. It said that he had heard of people that had not been accepted to colleges that said that they weren't accepting any more Japanese applicants.

Something that I had found interesting was that while inside most of the entertainment camps, it was stated in "A War Relocation Authority Phamphlet" that it explained "opportunities for economic gain in the ordinary sense are almost completely lacking to the residents of the center." This proved to be a big problem with the camps because it made it harder to be able to make a good amount of money and be able to grow in the economy.

Work Opportunities. Wages were anywhere from (12-19) dollars a month for campers. These wages were way below the normal working wages for that time.

In the poem "That damned Fence" it talks about how the japanese are forced out of their homes to be put into concentration camps with no where to go and nothing to do. Its beginning to drive them crazy, they just wanna leave.

One thing I found interesting about this time was how the american government saw Japanese-Americans. Japanese-Americans were loyal to America and pushed the American economic. Despite this loyalty, after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the United States Government deemed Japanese-Americans on the west coast to be threats to national security.

Something I found interesting is that the medical care in the Relocation camps was free to the people, and the impact of the medical care was that the docter help the spread of diseases according to ''A War Relocation Authority Pamphlet.''

In the source "A War Relocation Authority Phamphlet." Some Japanese individuals had to finish the rest of the buildings when they entered the camps, and they thought they were being protected from something outside the camps, but they were being pointed at by machine guns in towers.

I think it was important to learn that the internment camps violated the 14th and 5th amendments and stripped the rights of all Japanese Americans at the time by taking them and relocating them into internment camps. But though it was tough, the Japanese Americans stayed loyal and stuck it out so they could be trusted and treated as equals.

When the Japanese were in the internment camps, they kinda lost their freedom, but to prove their loyalty to the u.s and, they sold everything they could not carry for a very low price.

I learned like in Kimii Nagata's poem "Be Like the Cactus" for example, they used works like pain and thunder. They were forced to relocate by law, but they complied to show loyalty even though all that they lost from being moved from their homes. The WRA made it sound completely organized and cooperative, and saying it was for their own protection.

I think the two points of view of the internment camps, the government's side and the Japanese-Americans' side, are important because of how different they explain the internment camps. The government explains the camps as something necessary in times of war, as stated in A War Relocation Pamphlet, internment camps "serve as homes for evacuees who might be unable or unfit to relocate in ordinary American communities." However, to contradict this, Japanese Americans describe the camps as isolating, such as stated in Barracks Home, "What peace can such a place as this impart", and also "the floor is carpeted with dust."

The people that were moved to relocation camps were required to bring some of their own items. As said in "To All Japanese Americans," "Bedding and linens for each member of the family. Toilet articles for each member of the family. Extra clothing for each member of the family. Sufficient knives, forks, spoons, plates, bowls and cups for each member of the family. Essential personal effects for each member of the family." These items had to be tightly packed, for each group/person was limited based on what they could carry.
