The student did not attempt to know the child as a person, as seen by the generic name "Ah Boy" he called the child. The student also approached the child in public without informing his parent, which may cause the parent to feel uncomfortable and the child to feel distressed. The child is likely to be warned against talking to strangers, so it would be more advisable for the student to introduce himself and his credentials to the parent first.

1) The student did not squat down to the child's eye level to talk to interact with the child.
2) The student did not give a simple easy to understand explanation to the child and his parent on what he intends to do and introduce himself to them (mother and child).
3) I felt that the student spoke in a rather loud, "shouting" and rough tone of voice, instead, a soft, gentle tone should be used to make the child feel at ease.

This may inhibit the kid from building rapport with the kid (should the person introduce himself to the kid's mother later on)

The student did not seek permission from the child's mother to play with the child, nor did he politely ask the child if he is comfortable to play together. The student also took the child's toys away before the child could respond, which may make him appear unfriendly and even dangerous to interact with. Moreover, speaking to the child in Chinese may not have been wise as the child seems to respond better to English, as seen by how his mother later on speaks to him in English.
