This dish is a favorite in the region of San Martín and other cities in the Peruvian Amazon.
It is usually eaten for breakfast or lunch, and you can easily find it in markets and traditional food stalls.

 These are the ingredients:

·        Green plantains,

·        Pork fat or butter,

·        Salt,

·        And smoked pork meat, which we call cecina.

To prepare it, we fry the plantains and then mash them while hot, mixing them with pork fat until we get a soft and round ball. Then we grill or fry that tasty cecina, and sometimes we add a piece of chorizo too.

People love this traditional dish because it’s filling, flavorful, and represents the identity of the Amazon region. It’s common during festivals and local celebrations.
