Begin this module with a think/pair/share with the following prompt: Why cant you see stars during the day?

First, students have two minutes to think individually about why they can not see the stars at night.

Then students write down why they think they can not see the stars at night.

Next, place students into groups of two and discuss their thoughts.

Then combine each pair into a foursome. Instruct the foursomes to find the "best answer" of where the stars are out at night and have each group write their thought on the board.

Then have a group discussion on the various concepts of where the stars are during the day time.

Next, can you see your light patterns during the day?

Put the students in groups and discuss the lessons on constellations. Constellations can be any pattern. Discuss that this is the same as looking at the clouds and coming up with a pattern. Next provide each student with a pen light have them get into groups and create a pattern with their lights. Then turn off the lights and the entire class guesses what the pattern is.
