One common misconception I’ve noticed is the confusion between "Statistics" (the study of the field) and "statistics" (the actual data values).

This confusion often arises when students use the term "statistics" to refer to both the subject and the data, leading to misunderstandings about what each term represents.

I encountered this misconception when learning Statistics, as I initially thought that "statistics" referred only to the data points themselves. I thought that it wasn't an important distinction. However, after further review, I realized that Statistics refers to the broader field of study, while statistics refers to the actual data values being analyzed. This distinction is important for properly understanding the concepts and methods used in data analysis.

Specific: My goal for Math this term was to achieve a B+ to continue improving and strengthen my foundation for future terms.

Measurable: Although I won’t get my exam paper back, I will reflect on how I felt during the exam and review areas where I struggled earlier in the term. I’ll also continue using the PRF to track my improvements.

Attainable: I’ve worked hard this term by studying consistently, seeking help from a tutor (which I didn’t do last term), and getting support from my parents. Even though the second term is nearly over, I believe the effort I’ve put in will help me meet my goal.

Relevant: This goal is important to me because I received a D last term, and I didn’t want to fall behind again. I’ve focused on staying on track and improving my math skills throughout the term.

Time-bound: With the second term almost over, I’ll keep reviewing and reflecting on my progress until the final day, making sure my mindset is ready for the 3rd Term.

This term has been tougher than I expected, but I’ve kept my core values and SMART goals in mind to guide my progress. While there have been challenges, I’ve been pushing through. Here’s my reflection on each goal now that the exam is over:

Specific: I still believe I can achieve my goal of getting a B+ this term. While I’ve already taken the exam today, I’m hopeful my previous grades, along with the effort I put into studying, will help me reach my goal.

Measurable: I feel confident that I’ve been tracking my progress effectively. Even though I don’t get my exam paper back, I’ve reviewed key areas leading up to the exam and know where I’ve made improvements. I’ll continue focusing on areas where I can grow.

Attainable: My goal is still within reach. The exam is behind me, and while I won’t get feedback from it, I’m confident that the hard work I put in will help me meet my target. I believe that with continued focus and effort, I can still achieve that B+.

Relevant: This goal remains crucial because I’m determined not to repeat the mistakes from last term. I prioritized Math throughout this term, even when other subjects were easier, and that focus has kept me on track to improve.

Time-bound: The exam is over, but I still think I've done everything I could within the time of the term to reach my goal. With the work I’ve put in, I’m optimistic that I can do it.

Last night, I studied for the exam with my friends over a Discord call. We set aside time to review the material together, going through key concepts and answering mock tests. It was really helpful to talk through the problems and explain things to each other—it kept us motivated and made it easier to understand the more challenging topics. Although we slept at 12AM, it felt like a productive and supportive way to study, and I’m glad we could help each other out.

Quiz 1 on Polynomial Functions was definitely a challenge for me, particularly with the equations. I struggled to solve them, and it felt like I couldn’t quite get the hang of some of the concepts. On the other hand, I found Statistics much easier. The problems in statistics came more naturally, and I was able to approach them with more confidence. Although Quiz 1 were difficult, the quiz helped me identify where I need to focus more.

My best work this term is definitely Quiz 3 on Statistics, where I scored a perfect 20/20. This experience made me get more confident, as I felt like I deserved that perfect because I studied hard. I felt really proud of my achievement because it showed my solid understanding of the material and reassured me that I can succeed in Math. This positive experience motivates me to keep working hard and take on new challenges with confidence.
