Who is Sophie Scholl?

Sophie Scholl was a young resistance fighter trying to make a difference and resist against the Holocaust. She did this by forming a group called the Weiße Rose (White Rose) along with other students attending University of Munich. Sophie Scholl was German and made this group to demand people to join and to get there message across to the Nazis. She fighter heard against them and did not want to stay quiet like everyone else was at the time and she knew the consequences.

Sophie Scholl was born May 1921 in Germany. There family consisted of 6 six kids and upper-middle class. Her father Robert was mayor of Forchtenberg but then moved to Ulm when Sophie was 10 years old. Her and all her sibling like getting involved in groups that were for the Nazis and their parents did not like it very much. They then later on started to grow fear and horror of the Nazis and was not for it anymore.

The White Rose Movement

The White Rose movement is also known as the Weiße Rose. This movement was made up of students attending the University of Munich in Germany. The group was made up of people who love outdoor adventures, nature, music, art, and literature of German Romanticism. Some students that consist of this group were leaders Sophie and Hans Scholl, Alexander Schmorell, Willi Graf, Christoph Probst, and a professor of philosophy and musicology at the University Kurt Huber.

Hans Scholl is Sophie Scholl's brother and was one of the members of the White Rose movement. Hans and his sister had the same beliefs about the Nazis and wanted to speak up and resist against the Nazis yet in a peaceful way. They wanted to stop the Nazis from doing what they were doing. He helped create the White Rose group and was one of the leaders along with his sister. They made pamphlets to get the word around about their group and to recruit people to join. Later on, he and Sophie get arrested for taking the blame of all the White Rose actions that were made

The journey of Sophie Scholl started high and started to go down very quickly. She started just wanting to know more about the Nazis and then started creating her group and do thing her own way. This did not turn out well for he. She just wanted to make a difference and speak up. Instead, she got arrested and lost friends along the way. What Sophie Scholl did wasn't all for nothing she left her mark and has influenced the world still to this day with her actions.

When Sophie Scholl moved from Forchtenberg to Ulm she started getting involved and wanting to know more about what is going on in Germany and the Nazis rising to power as well as her other siblings. She joined BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädel) which was a league of only German girls. As the kids started getting involved in Nazi youth groups they did not like it very much and wanted it to stop because they knew the danger of the Nazis although they are a Christian family. The two siblings Hans and Sophie learned the danger of the Nazis and made their own group instead against the Nazis.

Family was very important when growing up in a time like this. Sophie grew up as one of six kids. She had a mom and a dad Robert who was the mayor of Forchtenberg which is where they lived until moving years later to a different part of Germany Ulm when Sophiee was only ten. The kids all got along as well as the parents and kids but the kids wanted to be involved in the Nazis when the parents did not want to. Going forward in life the kids wanted different things Sophie and Hans had similar things in mind which was creating the White Rose movement and going against the Nazis. The two siblings went through thick and thin together. When going through what they did they needed to have each other's back at all times.

Sophie was trying to get flyers at to more people which she did by putting them everywhere even in the school where she pushed a stack off a railing unto the central hall. This is now a popular scene in movie and documentary about Sophie Scholl and the group. The pamphlet was drop and seen by a janitor who was a supporter of the Nazis and who had Hans and Sophie immediately arrested by the Gestapo when finding out about this. Sophie and Hans took the blame for everything they did in there movement so they could try keeping their friends out of trouble. This eventually failed and they all got arrested and put to death.
