Can vary from D&amp;A support, to social-emotional, to direct instruction to earn Dogwood, and so on.<br><br>Not necessarily curriculum-driven. How to fuse the non-curriculum-based with the curriculum-based?<br><br>Cross-Curricular!<br><br>Being able to combine courses (ex: SS 10 &amp; 11 at the same time) to help students cover multiple competencies at once and incorporate their own areas of interest / curiosity into curriculum.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>What does learning look like for our students: <br>INVIDIVUALIZED<br>-some - creative, complex<br>-others - simple, straight to the point<br>-Learning is....<mark> different person than you were before you learned it... you've grown - task has to be meaningful, authentic, and relevant TO YOU </mark>&nbsp;- <mark>personalized, relevant (timely),</mark>&nbsp;<br>-can be uncomfortable<br>-not always continuous (stuff happens)<br>-create a system of growth despite all the dysfunction in their lives<br>-Central kids need to see their learning&nbsp;<br><br>Questions:&nbsp;<br>-how do we show them that they've grown?&nbsp; Socially?&nbsp; Emotionally? &nbsp;<br>-how to we get the accountability piece there?&nbsp; Have to know when to hold them accountable.&nbsp; Ownership&nbsp;<br><br>Metaphors by Oliver:<br>"If Central was a tool, we'd be a Swiss Army Knife"<br>"Central is like a sponge"... no matter how much love you give these kids it can never be enough... so you have to do that... AND teach them social studies<br><br>What does it LOOK LIKE at Central:&nbsp;<br>-head phones on<br>-self-harm reduction<br>-smoke breaks<br>-might be high<br>-developing social maturity<br>-teachers embed everything (e.g., rope harm reduction into your English lesson)<br>-food in the building<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We think learning is:<br>-contextual to who you are, where you have come from, experiential, relevant<br>-identifying gaps and finding ways to fill in those gaps<br>-Maslow's hierarchy of needs; it cannot happen until their basic needs are met<br>-recognizing their needs (self-aware) in order to learn (eventually able to advocate for own needs in order to be able to learn)<br>-isn't linear<br>-relational; emotions are a gateway to learning<br>-learn by experiencing compassion from others<br>-is very different for everyone!</div>]]></description>
