Lavender a 6th grader is going on a field trip to the Grand Canyon. Lavender's Friend Marisol ,but for some reason Marisol won't even talk to Lavender all she talked to was Rachelle the not so smart kid. When they arrived at the National Park Lavender had to get revenge so she tried to prank the but ended up getting lost by a flood in the canyon. So now they have to find there way back to base camp.

This image of a radio was the key to freedom it represented hope. The way of how the radio helped was in the beginning she couldn't use it because of signal so to find there way out they climb a mountain to find camp. But in the end they could not find camp with there eye's instead Lavender found a paper in John's bag it was the paper with the long range setting that she dropped on the bus next to John and lost it. When she dialed the correct code she was able to contact emergency services.

The most important quote was when they got a response on the radio that they were saved. "This is KG7XAB. I am stranded in Chiricahua with my friends. We got separated from our class after a flash flood. We need help. It's an emergency. Only static filled the little radio with every second, every crackle, Lavender felt a little piece of her heart start to die. And then- This is KB7XWT. I hear your distress" (Lambert 251) This quote is significant because it tells the reader how they were saved from such a harsh place and how just such a small piece of tech can be useful to save a person's life.

Lavender struggled to get along with Rachelle the not smart kid which Rachelle was surrounded by the smartest kid's of the grade while she was lost. Lavender did not like Rachelle because Rachelle thought all of her ideas where the best but a five year old's idea's are better than her. I struggle the same way with my little brother he think's he is smarter than me but at the same time act's like a three year old. Lavender wanted to make Rachel be quiet but Rachel would talk forever and wasted things like pouring water on her feet for no reason, yet my brother is the same wastes food, complains about everything, and really is annoying.

The type of conflict is person vs. person Lavender vs. Rachelle. The way of how the whole fight happened is Lavender was mad that her best friend Marisol wanted to hang out with Rachelle. So to get Marisol back Lavender told Rachelle to play hide and seek but Rachelle would be hiding even though no one would be looking for her but Rachelle wanted Marisol to hide with her so she allowed it and right when she forgot about them. Lavender got the warning on her radio to leave the canyon because of a flash flood which are unpredictable floods. Lavender tells one of the grown up's about the warning and then they start to climb out of the canyon right when Lavender reached the top she remembered about Rachelle and Marisol so she run's back down to get them. After a day in the wilderness Rachelle found out about the prank when Lavender told John at night Rachelle was awake and heard it all.

The lesson Lavender learned was that she should give anyone a chance to be friends together. In the end Rachelle and Lavender came to a agreement to try there best not to argue and fight.

The type of internal Conflict I found was person vs. guilt because it was hard for Lavender to forgive Rachelle after the prank and to stealing a friend. Lavender just wanted Rachelle gone so Lavender and Marisol could be friend's again and for thing's to go back to the same. But thankfully Rachelle and Lavender could forgive each other my making a agreement to not argue as much.
