Important information about Morse Code

The Morse code was used for many years, and was used for communication.

It was the first invention that made world wide communication possible.

It worked by transmitting electrical signals over a wire laid between

stations. Samuel Morse developed the Morse code through a set of dots

and dashes, representing numbers and letters. Morse code was transmitted

through the telegraph, and translated to English by the telegraph operator.

Eventually, paper was replaced by a receiver, and the telegraph operators were

able to hear and understand the code by listening to the clicking of the receiver,

which made more pronounced beeping sounds. The first message of the morse

code was sent on May 24th, 1844, in the distance of 40 miles. Some ways the

the code was used is for the military. During the American Civil War, Morse

code messages were conveyed using flags in the daytime, and torches at night.

Today Morse code is being used in assistive technology. Physically disabled

people who are unable to use a computer can communicate through Morse

code using a device. The device sends the message through a voice box.

Biographical story about Samuel Morse

Samuel Finley Breese Morse was an American

painter and inventor. He was born in

Charleston, Boston on April 27, 1791. He died

April 2, 1872. He had seven children, a wife, and

an ex wife. He's best remembered for his

invention of Morse code. He was considered

to be poor for the majority of his life. He

managed to live as a painter until he focused

his interests to electromagnetism and electric

communication. Samuel entered Philip's

Academy at the age of nine, and Yale college at

the age of 14. In 1826 he helped found, and he

became the first president of the National

Academy of Design. Samuel was once a

book publisher, but had more interests in

painting. His parents helped him go to England

to in order to study art. Morse came up with

the idea of an electric telegraph, and turned his

attention to the new invention: Morse code.

In his old age, he became a philanthropist.

After his death in 1872, his invention of Morse

code and the telegraph was forgotten over the

invention of new things, such as televisions,

cell phones, etc. His reputation as an artist

has grown. His portraits, the Lafayette, and the

American writer has been displayed all through

out the United States.

Morse code is a positive invention.

It's helpful for the military to use, and

it can send messages over a long distance.

It requires learning the code, but once

you've learned it, it's simple to remember.

It has the ability to get through when other

ways to communicate takes too long. The

power needed to use it over long distances

is very minimal. Only people who know the

code will understand. It makes your messages

more secure. Morse code is the simplest and

most efficient way to send messages over

the radio. It can be used in any language. The

equipment is affordable, easy to construct and

easy to operate. Morse code can be used for

medical purposes too. It allows severely handi-

capped people to tap or blink out a message.

Morse code can be used for navigation. It's faster

than radio communication while on a plane.

Morse code is an important invention that helps,

and benefits us in any ways.
