My name is Paul Gaugin, I've been Vincent's friend for a long time now, but things started to change dramatically few months ago.Unfortunately two of us can't really spend time together anymore like we used to do back in the day.

The year was 1888. Vincent Van Gogh-a good friend of mine, decided to move from Paris to Arles to found an art colony, he invited me to move and live with him, at first, I was quite doubtful about it, but at the end I agreed. We lived in small yellow house that he had set up as studio. We lived good, I found a job as soon as we moved from Paris and Vincent kept painting pictures in improvised studio, for him, it was a dream coming true. Our relationship was great, we never argued and never had any kind of disagreement. It was all good until September that year. I noticed that Vincent became less talkative, he often looked sad and depressed. One day, I asked him what was the matter. He told me that he was always misunderstood, that society doen't accept him because "he was a freak". I have to admit that he was a bit extraordinary but that never bothered me. And he couldn't stand people always insulting and putting him down. I talked to him very often in order to help him get over that state. But it seemed that things were only getting worse. Sometimes he would just lock himself up in the room. He often cried and screamed with no reason and I got really concerned abou him and his mental health. Peak of that whole situation happened in November, he was locked in his room as usually, but I didn't hear anything except one ear penetrating scream. I got really scared and knocked the door of his room. The scene was absolutely terrifying- Vincent was sitting right against his bed, his face and arms were completely covered in blood mixed with tears. I spotted a razor blade in his hand, which I took from him to prevent something even more tragic. I helped him wash his face and then I saw that half of his ear was missing. I contacted local psychiatrist and Vincent was diagnosed with couple of major mental disorders.

He was locked up in asylum, and I haven't seen him for almost a year now.I don't even know if he is still alive. I still feel very sad and sorry for my good old friend. I still question myself if I could have done something to prevent this from happening.
