he locked himself in his room, he went running, he keep texting his ex. They were unhealthy ways to cope
They might be worried as he is shutting himself out.
We can give him space and be there for him when he needs us

Jay used running as a coping mechanism which is healthy, though he could not come to terms with his emotions and didn’t tell anybody about how he felt from the shock.
