It must be clear and simple so that everyone understands it and also be attractive.

Choosing an appropriate title should be the first step in approaching a thesis, but at the same time it can be modified throughout its development.

In my case I have changed the title a little because I had a clear idea from the beginning but I think it is normal to doubt and change it if necessary.

Describe and analyze the results obtained through the preparation of different material as well as write and review the documents.]]> 2022-02-09 09:58:09 UTC https://padlet.com/saralagueradiaz1/Bookmarks/wish/2037531858 ABSTRACT saralagueradiaz1 https://padlet.com/saralagueradiaz1/Bookmarks/wish/2048227044 Since the middle of the last century and especially since the 1970s, several processes have been generated and consolidated that have completely changed the image of certain environments in Spain, especially in the coastal area, with new forms of organization and territorialities that break with the traditional model established on these spaces. The Cantabrian territory, like other coastal areas of the country, and even the European territory, have seen their environments significantly altered, transforming their image, and thereby altering their demographic, economic and urban structure.

It is surprising the variation in this sense that has taken place in the easternmost area of the Cantabrian community, affected by various processes of expansion and growth both cities of the region itself, and of other neighboring and well connected with it, as is the urban agglomeration of Bilbao, influencing notably on this space and area of study that will be denominated with the term of Marina Oriental de Cantabria.

Therefore, it can be said that the coastal geographical situation, the good communications, and the proximity to the urban agglomeration of Bilbao, have shaped this space, giving it specific characteristics and even form a functional part of the great metropolitan agglomeration that is generated around this great city. For all these questions, it is evident that this space has been the result of great transformations that have made the territory vary as much as it was shown in times past. Hence, the doctoral thesis supposes an approach to all these processes of change that have been taking place on the territory of the Eastern Navy, with a strong disarticulation and territorial disarticulation.

In short, this research focuses on how this space has been the result of an intensification of the urbanization process, which has led to a great change in the image and structure of the territories and has thus generated demographic changes, economic, urban and landscape consolidated on a space of great rural translation.

Based on all these changes, the doctoral thesis analyzes all these processes from an integrative, transversal, and multiscale approach, to understand what has been happening since the middle of the last century, but more intensely since the last decades of the twentieth century in the Cantabrian region and especially around study of the Eastern Navy, always with a view to being able to be polarized to other territories.



 Therefore, it is research focused on Regional Geographic Analysis, with renewed and updated ingredients, useful for the knowledge of this territory. In addition, this thesis helps the need for general adequate and up-to-date planning of the actions and changes that have been taking place, with a view to sustainable management and development, especially after the sharp process of urbanization that intensified in the last decades of the last century and the first of the present, which generated on this space high transformations that have led to the loss of the traditional uniqueness of this territory, opening up a wide field of work.

In the Spanish case, the great rise of this process is centered mainly from the 20th century, a period of time in which Spanish cities experienced the most significant changes in terms of their structure and morphology, through a dynamic in which New spaces and metropolitan areas are consolidated based on a diffuse urbanization model, totally different from the one that had been developed until now, making the task of differentiation and limit between the urban and the rural more and more complicated (Nel.lo, 1998; Train, 2005).
This process accelerated especially around the decade of the 1970s, when the most prominent and important cities in the country experienced a residential expansion that completely broke with the traditional compact city model, in favor of the diffuse city model. (Nel.lo, 2017). It is from that moment, when a series of processes were generated and intensified in various areas of Spain, which have resulted in great changes and transformations, especially on the coastal areas, establishing the birth of new territorialities different from the traditional ones that were they knew until now.
