In my opinion, I believe that freedom of speech should be censored more. For instance, people and hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan use their freedom of speech rights to hate on others that they don't like. The bad problem is that they are allowed to say hateful things to people they don't like which are mainly Jewish and black people. Hate speech can lead to people getting killed and promoting violence to others. An example can be, "an alleged white supremacist plowed his car into counter-protesters, killing a woman and injuring 19 others.". This shows how hate speech which is part of the first amendment can lead to violence and terrorist acts and demonstrations. It is not however mean to protect people from being punished for saying hurtful things to others. I do not think that public speech should be censored because there are so many possible things that could go wrong. For example, someone might find something offensive that others won't, and who gets to decide what is and isn't offensive, does it vary from person to person? Hate speech is very much linked to hate crimes. Censorship should be allowed but only to an extent because, if we censor things that cause harm in any. way that keeps things peaceful but if we censor thing because we just don't agree/ like it then that isn't reasonable..  Freedom of Speech was created because America is supposed to be a free country where people are able to be themselves.  Ann example of this is that we're able to practice whatever religion we believe in or if you're an atheist thats okay. In the article, the author states "The courts have said the First Amendment protects most hate speech. But it does not give anyone the right to make threats or false statements. It also doesn’t protect the use of language that incites violence. One often-cited example is that you don’t have the right to falsely yell “Fire!” in a crowded movie theater."
