Response 5: Think about the author's choices. What has the author done well so far? Have they successfully created suspense? Do they have a good use of dialogue, word choice, or figurative language? Do they use flashbacks/foreshadows?

One way the author made this book interesting is by using third person omniscient. This choice made this book more addicting and kept the reader hooked. This way, you can see what the other characters think and sometimes this leads you to be confused and wondering about who's right and what's going on. The author designed the dialogue in a way that you could visualize and feel the situation at the same time. At certain points of the book it creates suspense which forces you to continue reading. This book used many flashbacks. It helped getting a better understanding of the main character and what he's been through.

In this book the two main character both have very different lives. But both of them have their difficulties. Their feelings and action always changed when they were around each rother, and it was mentioned how they felt happier. I can relate to this as I have a person in my life that can change my mood in an instant. Thinking about them makes me happy just like when Emily and Sam thought about each other, their mood changed. They always want to be with each other. In my case I too would rather spend all my time with this person if I could. They make me really happy and help me forget my problems just like they did each other.

It also mentioned how he got a haircut and wore new clothes just so Emiys family and she would think badly of him. He put in an effort regardless of the known consequences. Earlier he had mentioned how Riddle was the only one he was holding on for. But now he has another new important meaning on life. Emily. All the anger from inside him came out after years of gathering. His father was the one that gave them this horrible life. He was the reason he was pulled away from Emily. And lastly he was the reason his own little brother suffered. Emily made him realize how important it was to stand up for what you want. His own father was surprised about how he lunged forward as he never did that before as he never dared.

Especially in Sams position as he was trying to get away from a person who gave negative influences. Sam eventually learnt how to stand up for himself and fight for the sake of his brother. His anger helped as his dad ripped him away from Emily. Emily on the other hand always had a feeling that Sam was alive. And when everyone around her said to give up, she stood her ground and held on to the little hope she had left.

I love the intense scenes the author puts out in the story. It makes me what to keep reading continuously. The excessive details make the book interesting and help me visualize better. One think i do not like is how the characters perspectives are formatted. It is written in third person omniscient which is better that first in my opinion but this book switches the angle so quickly, the transition is often bumpy. One thing i would recommend that'll make this book better is to change character perspectives every chapter even if that means to make the chapters shorter. This gives the readers a time to adjust and digest the details of the scenes before jumping right into it.

Even though I've written at least 5 songs so far, I always quit at the end as throughout time I grew to hate my own song and I restart but it ends up in the same cycle. i will plan out the next time i sit to write. The environment and feeling of a home is great feeling. House and home have different connotations. And in this case "a home in the heart" shows that Esperanza with find a home where shes feel loved and safe and not just a big house.

This series is by far most definitely one of my favorite books. One think i like about this book is how the author approached the many different aspects of Greek Mythology. Since I was one of the people who didn't know anything about Greek mythology I was hesitant to start reading this book. But as time progressed the book had me engrossed. The adventures in the book is arranged in a way that it will make you want to never stop reading. I will suggest tis book to anyone who loves a good fantasy and is not afraid to learn about new things. On the other hand if you are already someone who knows a lot about Greek Mythology, this is a must read.

The narrator of the book is Percy Jackson himself. He had recently figured out that he was a Half-blood meaning he had half of God in him. His father, Posidion was one of the Big Three along with Zeus and Hades. Percy had been through alot the past few years of his life but now he had to crap everything in a matter of a few hours. Realizing that one of your parents was a God was not something you would expect. Hes is a kind-hearted boy who loves his mom and is quite brave. He is capable of more than he thinks. Even though the main character is believable theres always doubt as he is knew in this World and not everything will make sense to him. Theres often times where he gets something wrong and realizes the truth. Theres a fair amount of windows and mirrors in the book. While on a literal way I personaly have no experience of being related to Greek Gods, I do know how Percy flt in some situations. For example when he had to sacrifice something/someone he loved for the greater good. I had been in a similar situation like this too.

Soon enough, to his surprise, he realized his mom was still alive. She was captured by Hades. Hades tried using her as a bribe so that Percy would be willing to hand over the The Thunderbolt. Percy and his friends only had 3 pearls to take them back to the living. It wasn't enough for all four of them. He knew he had to make the right decisions in this situation or everything could fall apart. Annabeth and Grover were trying to decide who out of them two would be left behind. Finally percy interupted them after he made his decision. He knew what the right thing to do was and even though it hurt him deep inside h cameforth with the plan. He had to leave his mother behind. He himself knew that it was what his mom wouldve asked him to do. This showed an act of bravery and responsibility. He knew what he had to do and despite of taking his emotions to base his choices apon, he looked at the bigger picture. His future, the Worlds future. He made a sacrifice just like a true hero will have to do at least once in their life, and make th ebest out of it.

In this scene, Percy had just received a letter from his mom asking him to decide whether or not to go back out in the mortal world for seventh grade or stay at Camp Half-Blood. He didn't want to make this choice at the moment so he decided to clear his head. He knew if he did go for seventh grade he would get to spend time with his mom but he would be putting his life in danger as well. He had been making his way to the sword arena where he found Luke. he was one of the first few people he was introduced to when he first set foot in the Camp. He was a son of Hermes and had a big amount of respect. He had even offered Percy a shield for the journey of the Quest. But as it turns out, Luke was a traitor. He was the one who hid the Lightening bold in the shield to set Percy up. While Luke started to confess all this, Percy could've tried to kill him. But instead he tried to talk Luke out of his other plans. He explained how Kronos convinced him how the God were nothing but frauds who dont care enough to look after their own childen.

He's determined and wants to see how far he can go and reach his limits. He wants to find his weakness. he wants to find his strengths and consume more knowledge throughout his lifetime. This quote also emphasizes how he wants to be independent. Further on in the story he makes choices that show how independent he's slowly becoming.
