The growth of technology is rapid. Every brand from technology comes out with different inventions for at least every month. They are making new inventions that is going to be considered "better" than their competing brands. Technology started way back in the 1900's and up until now inventions for "making our daily tasks easier" are making people dependent on them. So, in the TED talk of Dr. Sherry Turkle about technology, many realizations came into my mind. The society is slowly getting controlled by this inventions and on what we see on our social media sites and accounts.

Technology controls us, this is one of the striking points said by Dr. Turkle. As we see today in our modern world children, young adults, and even senior citizens are holding their mobile phones or gadgets scrolling through their social media accounts like facebook, instagram, and twitter. What we see on social media controls our mind and changes our perspectives and how we see specific issues or topics. For example, the definition or being "beautiful" changes. We all know that we are all beautiful but because of social media the definition of beautiful becomes people with fair skin, curvy bodies, plump lips etc. We are being dependent on how technology will help[ us in our daily life. Technology invents us by inventing more and more apps and machines that can already be used in our daily lives that someday we wont even need the power and strength of the people around us.

Another striking point is that technologies are describing ourselves or in short words the things people see on our social media accounts thinks that, that is who we are and that is how we act in real life. In social media apps like "Facebook" we can publicly share different posts from unknown people or pages which sometimes we only tend to share stuff because we can relate to it or we felt the empathy of the post. But, we should always keep in our minds that what we see on social media isn't always true about a person. Therefor, the things we have does not really define who we are and how we interact. For instance, I am a very shy person if you see me in person, but in social media I am really talkative in the sense where I share many posts with funny captions and I talk to many people via messenger or chat. This is just an example of which technology does not really define us as a person and i think that this is one of the most popular misconceptions when it comes to social medias or our technologies.

Lastly, Technology redefines human life. I think that this statement is very true . Most or almost all of us has our technologies or gadgets with us wherever we go and whoever we are with. This only means that our lives are now consists of technologies and some would even say "I can't live without my phone". Why? because we feel happy and we feel that someone is with us or accompanied. For example, A group of friends sits together to enjoy a meal and catch up with each other, but instead they are all holding their phones and act like nobody is around them not even their friends. The concept of hanging out before is being able to talk, have fun, and catch with the life of your friends but nowadays, it has been redefined. That connection will always be there, but as well as our technologies.

From the TED talk about technologies, it made me realize that even though technological advancement benefits us for our daily life but it is also slowly destroying us, our connections with other people and it is redefining how life should be.
