         <description><![CDATA[<div>Heroin can be consumed in various different ways. It can be injected into a&nbsp; vein or muscle, smoked in a pipe or mixed with a marijuana joint or cigarette. As a powder it can be snorted. Ingredients in heroin depend on which type of heroin, black tar heroin, brown powder heroin or white powder heroin.&nbsp; All&nbsp; heroin is made from morphine&nbsp; which is the main ingredient. Street heroin, which is the more common heroin can contain a variety of street and prescription drugs, including methamphetamine. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Percentage of Teen Use-<br>8th graders- (1.6%)<br>10th graders- (1.4%)<br>12th graders- (1.5%)<br>Teens use heroin because of peer pressure by the people around them, college student will use to be less stressful. They also use because teens say that heroin is "easily available" which is an easy drug to buy.<br>914,000 (in the U.S) people use heroin which is about 0.3% according to a 2014 data research <br>Approximate 9.2 million people in the world use heroin. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Short Term Effects- dry mouth, flushing of the skin, heavy feelings in the hands and feet, clouded mental functioning, and going on "the nod", a back-and-fourth- state of being conscious and semi-conscious, drowsiness, sedation,  reduced sensation of pain.<br>Long Term Effects- damaged teeth and gum swelling, excoriated skin from scratching, diminished immune system, weakness and sedation, poor appetite and malnutrition, sleeping problems, decrease in sexual functioning, and collapsed veins. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I feel that if heroin had a valuable use that like to cure or help with a disease or sickness it would be useful. But i think if you are an addict, i would be more careful on how you consume it because if i were one of the people who uses heroin I'd be smart enough to not inject it with a used syringe because you can get HIV'S or an STD. I feel like this drug is dangerous, but if you only were to use it sometimes like when people drink alcohol just for fun, i feel like id be OK if the person knows the risks&nbsp; and what they're getting themselves into.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Many new  heroin addicts are in their teens or early 20's<br>2. Tolerance with heroin develops with regular use, after a short time more heroin is needed to produce the same level  of intensity which then results in addiction.<br>3. Major withdrawal symptoms peak between 48 and 72 hours after the last dose and can also last up to a week. For some people withdrawal can be as long as a few months after stopping from using the drug.<br>4. Heroin was first manufactured in 1898 by the Bayer pharmaceutical company of Germany and marketed as a treatment for tuberculosis.<br>5. heroin craving can persist years after drug use stops, and can be triggered by exposure to stress or people, places, and things associated with drug use.<br>6. Approx. 9.2 million people in the world use heroin <br>7. After its discovery in 1874 for the first 50 years of existing heroin possession and use was not a criminal offense. (or illegal) it wasn't until 1914 that a law was passed. <br>8. Heroin was marketed for kids for tuberculosis which helped improve respiratory health by cutting couching and easing breathing <br>9. Heroin was believed to be less addictive than morphine. At one point heroin was used to treat morphine addiction a person named Wright was looking for a non-addictive version of morphine and that heroin was the solution <br>10. It takes just 12 weeks of consistent use to become an addict and experience withdrawal symptoms if stopped using.</div>]]></description>
