At the start of this scene, Tonya is irritated because Izzy has come to join her where she eats lunch, which she does not want to happen. When she tells Izzy to not come and Izzy gets defensive, she becomes even more annoyed because she feels as though Izzy has a pass where she can do anything and no one will say anything because of her mom dying, which makes Tonya angry because no one else has that and it makes it feel unjust. As the conversation goes on, Tonya becomes less annoyed and begins to make Izzy laugh and makes the conversation more light hearted and says some things in a jokey tone which makes Izzy more happy and distracts her from the overwhelming emotions she has been feeling. Towards the end, Tonya begins to convince Izzy to skip school so that they can escape from everything that has been going on and they can feel relived. There is also an element of sadness because she knows that no one misses her when she is gone which hurts her but she covers that up and never lets it show.
