  • My name is a good fit for my personality because I consider myself as a simple guy and I like short and concrete answers
  • Describe a time when someone made an assumption about you because of your name: Everyone thinks I have my dad´s personality and everyone outside Mexico makes stereotypical assumptions based on my common mexican name
  • Describe a time when your name affected your behavior: There are a lot of Joses in Mexico and it can sometimes get difficult in crowded situations where there are more Joses.

    What might happen if you made different choices one morning? How could making a different choice in your hairstyle, fashion, or another aspect of your routine affect how people look at you?
    -I think they would be surprised in either a good way or a bad way, depending if the style is normalized in our society

    Describe a time in your life when your concerns about how you would be perceived by others affected a decision you made.
    -Sometimes I make myself go through things I really don´t enjoy because of other people´s perception.  On example is Music or Clothing, when I wanted to be like myself but other people´s opinions changed this. 

    Who are the people with whom you can be and show your truest self? Who are you when you are with them? In what ways do they give you confidence to just be you?
    -My friends, I am really optimistic and love joking around. They give me confidence because they have already seen my truest self and we still are great friends. 

    What are you passionate about? How do the things you are passionate about help shape who you are?
    -I really love all kinds of music, tech and nature. They shape me because they center a lot of my hobbies and they are my main points of interest that I like to include in my life in one way or another.

    This gives the people an identity by shaping their likes and dislikes. These are all human elements that change the way we think, act, and interact with each other.

    What are the main elements of my daily life that define me as a part of a community?

    I think the main elements are: language, musical interests, daily habits and food.

     What are those elements and characteristics for others?

    These elements can vary a lot from culture to culture, and in some cases, these elements are not big parts of a culture.

    How can I use critical thinking skills in order to read different sources from my and other’s cultures, integrate the information, and apply it to reach a multiculturally appropriate response?

    I can use my thinking skills and try to understand a culture I may not be familiar with, to understand the full story of that culture. Later on, I can inspect the superficial and deep aspects of that culture using the iceberg theory. Once I have all the information, it will be very easy to explain and apply on many situations.

    What experiences shaped my perspectives?

    Many experiences in this course have changed my perspective towards humanity and what we are made up of. This means that I now have more tools to overcome problems that I may find on different cultural situations.
