In March of 1984, being 22 years old, he crossed into the United States to find work. He then started working in the fields. Since he crossed illegally, he unfortunately got sent back to Mexico after a month. He kept returning to the U.S. and luckily, in 1986, he got his green card. After several years, he became a citizen of the United States in 2000. Unlike my dad, she was never sent back to Mexico but she still was here for years without a green card. She got her green card in 2000. She had a job working in a factory but after it closed down, she didn't have work. She continued babysitting and still does to this day but only for family and friends. She helps my dad with any payments as much as she can.
