我的朋友喜欢打篮球。 - Me friend likes to play basketball.

下个周末他们去打篮球，你去不去？ - Next weekend they are going to play basketball, are you coming or not?

睡觉(shui4jiao4) – to sleep

Example:

我周末喜欢睡觉。- I like to sleep on the weekends.

你为什么上(shang4, to take a course) 化学课 (hua4xue2ke4, Chemistry class) 的时候睡觉？– Why did you sleep during chemistry class?

Examples:
1. 我觉得逛街很有意思。(I think shopping is very interesting.)
2. 你想不想去逛街？(Do you feel like going shopping?)

Requirements:

This means “to miss”, as in “I miss you” or “I miss my home”.

You may recognize 想 as in “to want” – if you add 念 it can make the distinction between wanting something vs. missing something.

Example:

我想我家- I want my family

我想念我家 – I miss my family

But 想 alone can also mean you miss something, if it is clear in the context surrounding it.

Example:

我好想你 – I miss you so much

Meaning: beautiful (adj)

If you want to call someone beautiful, you can say: 你很漂亮 (you are very beautiful).

Every morning you can show yourself some self love if you say:
我很漂亮 (i am very beautiful).

But reserve this word for people, or perhaps something personal. don’t use it to call a place or book or movie beautiful! In that case, use 好看 (looks good) instead.

If you have a hard time remembering how to pronounce this word, you can use a mnemonic device. This is can be a small English phrase that gives you hints to what you’re trying to remember.

Like this: She is a beautiful piano player without an N (pia_o) lying (liang) on the ground. It’s silly, but it works! Try to make things like this for other words, too.
