Tybalt is a foil!! This means he is an antagonist trying to bring Romeo and Benvolio down! What is foreshadowed by Tybalt's reaction to his uncle's command to leave Romeo alone? Why do you think so?

Tybalt's reaction to that command shows foreshadowing of some sort of beginning-of-the-end scenario, or in this case the big fight between Romeo, Mercutio, and himself (Tybalt). The reaction conveys that certain foreshadowing by clearly showing that Tybalt is the type of person to genuinely look for trouble, the bad sides of people, etc. That being said, that part of Tybalt's personality makes a reader such as myself think that he would do something like that against his enemies (and start something bad), especially since he wants revenge, made evident by the quote from him "now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall," saying that he wants revenge. Tybalt's own uncle even thinks that he is a "saucy boy," even further conveying the message that he is a very reckless and headstrong person who would do something bad.

Tybalt's reaction to the conversation with his uncle leads us to predict what is to come. At the end of the conversation Tybalt says,"I shall withdraw; but this intrusion shall now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall." This leads me to foreshadow that Tybalt with leave Romeo and Benvolio alone because of his uncle's command, but he won't leave them alone forever. Tybalt will restrain himself, but he will, eventually, try to harm Romeo and Benvolio. He will basically even out the score. The Montagues are allowed to stay at the Capulet party, but Tybalt will get revenge for thinking that they are there for the sole purpose of mocking the Capulets. Also, Tybalt identified Romeo by his voice. To me, this illustrates that Tybalt was looking for trouble because he was listening to people's private conversations just so he could stir up a problem. This adds to the fact that Tybalt could fight Romeo and Benvolio in the future because he likes to stir problems up, and he is a troublemaker.

During the conversation with Tybalt and Capulet. Capulet tells Tybalt to leave Romeo alone. The attitude portrayed by Tybalt was anger. Tybalt was going to fight Romeo right them and there, but he was stopped by Capulet. In response, Tybalt states, "I will withdraw: but this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall." This means that Tybalt will hold off for now. This line foreshadows that in the future Tybalt is going to fight Romeo because he is angry that he came to the party and he has a pure hatred for Romeo.

You can tell in the reading that he wants to get Romeo in trouble. In the reading, he states "This, by his voice, should be a Montague.
Fetch me my rapier, boy. What, dares the slave
Come hither, covered with an antic face,
To fleer and scorn at our solemnity?
Now, by the stock and honor of my kin,
To strike him dead I hold it not a sin."

When Tybalt sees that Romeo is at the party he becomes furious that there is a Montague in a Capulet "gathering" and he is planning overreacting right away by saying he is going to attack him. As he is going to do so, Lord Capulet pulls him to the side and asks why he is just storming off in the middle of a party. Then, Tybalt explains that Romeo is at this party and that it is wrong for a Montegue (the enemy) to be at a Capulet gathering and Lord Capulet doesn't quite understand why he is so upset and has been told by the prince himself that Romeo is a good kid "And, to say truth, Verona brags of him" and tells Tybalt not to do anything about it as long as he isn't causing trouble. Well, Tybalt being the antagonist he is, is looking for trouble and says "I will withdraw; but this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall." which is basically Tybalt saying that even though he cannot do anything about Romeo being there now, he will get his revenge later which leads me to foreshadow that he is planning on jumping Romeo.

During the party, Tybalt attempts to confront Romeo but is stopped by Lord Capulet because Lord Capulet knows that the Capulet's public image is important and if the Capulets and Montagues are caught fighting again, both houses will be executed by the Prince. Tybalt agrees to stand down but he also states "this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall." This quote foreshadows that Tybalt will listen to his uncle's command but Tybalt will eventually get his revenge on the Montagues/ Romeo.

An example that may foreshadow this is when Tybalt says, " I shall withdraw, but this intrusion shall now seeming sweet, convert to bitterest gall." This means that Tybalt will stop arguing for time being merely because of his Uncle's demand, but he will definitely come back to take vengeance. From this, I have concluded that Tybalt is one to hold a grudge and may possibly latch out and start an altercation with Romeo in the latter part of the story.

During the conversation between Tybalt and Lord Capulet, Tybalt says that "To strike him dead I hold it not a sin." This shows that Tybalt believes that since Romeo wasn't invited to the party, and because of the fact they share a common hatred , it would be okay to kill him. Lord Capulet tries to explain to Tybalt that the Prince likes Romeo and that Romeo isn't doing anything wrong. Tybalt does not agree with that and says "Now seemingly sweet convert to bitter gal" saying that now Tybalt will be peaceful towards Romeo but one day his anger will boil over, and Tybalt will use Romeo sneaking into this party as an excuse to fight with Romeo.

Tybalt engaging a fight with Romeo is being foreshadowed by his reaction to his uncle's command to leave Romeo alone. I think this is being foreshadowed judging by the way he acts angrily after being told to stay neutral. He states that "I will withdraw; but this intrusion shall,". This proves that later on in the story that he will get his redemption against Romeo .

Tybalts reaction toward Romeo was very negative and aggressive. For example Tybalt says"to strike him dead I hold it not a sin". This helps me understand the amount of anger that Tybalt has toward Romeo. Tybalt's reaction to his Uncles command shows foreshadowing because when Tybalt says

He confronts Lord Capulet about the matter and Lord Capulet says to let him be, Romeo has a good reputation and Lord Capulet doesn't have a problem with him being there and if a fight breaks out, they will be put to death by the prince.
Tybalt agrees to leave Romeo alone but promises to himself that that is the last straw. He says, "now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall." Tybalt will be keeping a close eye out for Romeo and if he does anything bad Tybalt will make sure he is punished. He is determined to seek revenge.

During the Capulet's party, Tybalt hears Romeo's voice and goes to tell his uncle, Lord Capulet, that there is a Montague at the party. Lord Capulet responds by saying to leave him alone and not to fight because he has heard that Romeo is a good man and Capulet remembers the Prince's warning. Tybalt then says "Now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall" this means that he will restrain himself for now but the anger of a Montague being at a Capulet's party makes his body shake. This helps me to foreshadow that knowing Tybalt's aggressive behavior he will be planning revenge and lash out at Romeo later.

I think Tybalt's reaction to his uncle's command to leave him alone foreshadows that Tybalt is probably going to do something to them in the future. He is obviously against them being at the party but stands down just to satisfy his uncle and not cause the king to, well, kill them. He says, "Now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall". Most likely he will see them and want to get revenge just because he didn't get what he wanted, which was for them to be thrown out of the party.
