Charcoal Still Life on Toned Paper

I enjoyed this project. I have never really worked with toned paper, so this was new for me. I struggled to get small details with the charcoal pencils, but the bigger shapes were easier. If I were to do this project again, I would take my time. I feel as if I had plenty of time, but I rushed myself. However, I was still able to use a variety of values to create 3D form. Overall, it was a bit more difficult for me because I am better at smaller drawings, but it was definitely a way for me to work with different materials. I learned a bit from this project.

One-Point Perspective Room

I did not have a ton of difficulty experiencing with working with a vanishing point. Some of the shading was a little difficult to figure out, but I eventually got it. I enjoyed this project, especially because I haven’t really worked too much with one-point perspective.

Impressionism Chalf Pastel Drawing

I feel like I struggled a bit with this piece. I understood the basics of impressionism, but I had trouble because the picture I chose was filled with shadows, so there weren’t a lot of colors I was able to see and work with. However, I think that the idea of impressionism is expressed most in the water and in the sky.

Pen & Ink Drawing

I enjoyed working with pen and ink as a drawing medium, although it was something new and kind of difficult. Finding the range of values was tricky at first, but I understood it as I progressed with my drawing. Over all, I really liked this project.

I chose the original piece of artwork because it is very different and almost has a creepy feel to it. I thought it looked very unique and interesting. I also liked that the man was holding a guitar because I have a strong love for music. I chose this background because it reminds me of waves. It could represent ocean waves, since I love the ocean and being in water; or it could represent sound waves from the guitar.
