#1: Working Well.... One thing that is working WELL is the strategic shift to phonics instruction for intervention groups. Students are responding to the systematic approach of teaching and seem to appreciate "knowing" what is next in our lesson. (Although I will admit, they DO love to change it up from time to time with a game or extra activity as needed.) Another thing that is working well is the common language we are gaining from using the same curriculums across grade levels (example: secret stories)

#2: Need more support... I would love to incorporate more multisensory activities to help students transfer new learning into working memory.

#1: One thing working well is our Heggerty time. I can see the progress my students are making with identifying sounds, and I know this plays a huge part in that.

#2: I feel like I could use some more support in making writing meaningful in my centers.

1.) One thing that is working well right now is my math spiral review. I use Math for Today, but I don't start it until after Christmas.

One thing that is working well is our practice with the secret stories everyday. I can see all of the kids growing with their reading.
I am struggling with finding time to prepare the matierials for small group.

#1: One thing that I think is working well for me is SHINE groups. I am loving UFLI! I love that it is reinforcing skills that students individually need and things that we have already learned in class with Reading Horizons. I also love that students are able to remember what they have learned from day to day. I think that it gives students many opportunities for different styles of learning! Also, I am learning so much myself :)

#2: I feel like I could use more support with knowing how to challenge the "high-flyers" during Reading Horizons. Are there other ways to push those who are scoring above grade level during our instructional time?

1) One thing working well is SHINE groups. I LOVE being able to work with some 3rd snd 4th graders. They have motivated each to grow in math.

One thing that is working well is Reading Horizons. For a little bit, I struggled with the routine and figuring out the time schedule. I feel that I have finally found my footing and figured out what works best for me and my students!
I feel I could use more support with figuring out ways to help my students become effective and independent writers.

Working well...with my kiddos it is hard to say what is working well. We are still in the prealphabetic and partial phrase in learning letters and sounds(phonics and Phoneme awareness). My kiddos do learn well with repetition, repetition, repetition.
Need more support...I would love to look at the UFLI curriculum and see if I could use it in my room. Also finding more manipulatives that my kiddos could use as a learning tool.

#1: One thing working well is using UFLI to teach my older students that still struggle with decoding. I like the structure of the lessons and the constant reinforcement of skills previously taught. I can see my kids using strategies previously taught when spelling words.

#2: I feel I could use more support with ways to make the lessons more multisensory.

One thing working well for me is SHINE group. I have specifically seen so much growth in the confidence of my students as readers. I really do believe that this is trickling down from SHINE and them really being pushed on things they lack.
I feel like I could use support in mixing up the delivery of Reading Horizons and how I can keep my students interested and excited about this time of day.

One thing that is working well for my class is Secret Stories. After introducing them when they arise in instruction, we have started reviewing one per day during morning meeting. Anytime we read, students immediately recognize these stories and APPLY them! I have also started doing a mystery word each morning that incorporates them. Students spend their breakfast time trying to figure out the word of the day. Not only are they working but they are quiet during this time! :) They see them in math word problems, in work in the hall as we pass by, on YouTube videos, and so many other places. SS are a game changer!

One area I could use support in is incorporating multi-sensory activities into my RH block.

1. Classroom guidance is going well this year. I feel like I am doing a better job teaching children rich vocabulary pronunciations and meaning. I am also taking time to hold them accountability with reading and our writing activities. No longer are they allowed to rush through or scribble a phrase just so they can move to the next preferred activity.

I am focusing on vocabulary and key words at the beginning of my math lessons. I feel like it is working well focusing on the key words before we start the math lesson.
I need more support with time management and including all the parts of lesson (small groups especially) and even what I should be focusing on during this time.

#1. One thing that is working well is SHINE groups. I have enjoyed changing to a comprehension group. I believe the students having an opportunity to learn various comprehension strategies and exposure to even more vocabulary will be a game-changer.

#2. I could use continued support with vocabulary work and embedding it into lessons. I feel like I am able to cover vocabulary as it is used in our texts, but I am realizing the true deficits of even basic grade level vocabulary. (I loved the spelling dictation you showed us in our meeting.) Also, motivating students is always like climbing a mountain with our 5th graders.

1) My students are working hard with adding and subtracting word problems. I have been focusing on key words to help them determine which operation to use for the problems which has really worked well in helping them understand.

2) I struggle finding enough time to help those struggling students one on one! I pull small groups but some of my students do better one on one!

I love using UFLI with my older students. It really is working to help bridge those gaps that they have with decoding. I also love secret stories and how I am able to incorporate them into my SPIRE lessons also.
I could use more support with multisensory activities and lessons. Also ways to reach the different levels I have in some of my groups.

Book Clubs are going really well. The students enjoy our novel studies and it is definitely increasing reading excitement during their weekly library time as they look for chapter books that are similar, by the same author, etc. We've been working hard on reading aloud fluently as well. I have seen a lot of growth in this area among these kiddos.

2) I feel like I could use more ideas for different things I could do during UFLI. Sometimes I struggle with keeping them engaged, especially my 4th grade group.

#1 Heggerty is going really well for the majority of the class. Using the sound wall (our version)and explaining and showing them where the sounds come from is helping a lot as well.

#2 Working with our student that does not speak English, especially with report cards coming up.

The morphology matrix you sent me last week for our vocabulary lesson was wonderful! Students were amazed at the puzzle-like setup and how they could use prefixes, roots, and suffixes to create endless words that were all related in some way.
I would like support in how to make the HMH texts more engaging. Especially on the first day of a text where they're doing a lot of reading and responding. How do I lighten their load without making it too light?
