The LitCamp program includes:

Students engage with a variety of authentic Spanish and bilingual texts while celebrating their motivation, curiosity, and confidence. 

This four-to-eight-week program combines reading and writing lessons with engaging camp routines. Each LitCamp en español grade-set Cabana kit includes: 

• Authentic Spanish-language literature and favorite books sensitively translated into Spanish.

• Read-aloud and whole-group instruction to support reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

• Creative literacy-building activities that use a joyful, strength-based approach to promote success.

• Dedicated time for independent reading and writing to build a community of readers.

The MathCamp program includes:

• Lessons that reinforce math priority standards and feature clear objectives, vocabulary, skills, and opportunities to practice, collaborate, and reflect

• Real-world connections with Math Hero readers showcasing people who use math in their jobs

• Math-themed fiction and nonfiction classroom libraries for independent reading

The MathCamp en español program includes:

• Easy-to-implement lessons that strengthen math skills

• WIDA-aligned prompts to build students' mathematical language skills

• Transadapted content that ensures equity, making math literature and practice more culturally relevant

  
  

The 7 Strengths Include:

1. Belonging - Being a valued, cherished member of a community.

2. Curiosity - Showing a willingness to explore new territory and test new theories.

3. Friendship - Having close, trusting relationships with others.

4. Kindness - Being compassionate towards others; expressing tenderness that has an impact, near or far.

5. Confidence - Thinking independently, expressing ideas, and believing in yourself.

7. Hope - Thinking optimistically and believe that today's efforts will produce good things in the future for yourself and the world.

Each MathCamp grade receives 2 copies of 10 books, for a total of 20 books.

Campers take a Check-In on the first and last day of camp during Bunk Time. ​

• First check-in should be analyzed to determine campers’ mathematical understanding and reasoning.​

• End-of-camp check-in can be analyzed to understand campers’ progress and growth in key focus areas.​

The Read-Aloud, or Lectura en voz alta, is the core of every lesson. This list outlines the Read-Aloud titles featured in LitCamp en español. Each Read-Aloud book includes associated text sets with decodables and short reads to help students build knowledge. 

Opportunities to assess campers' progress are woven throughout LitCamp lessons and activities. There are of diagnostic and formative assessments throughout the program, and include: 

• Foundational skills check-ins at the start and end of LitCamp 

• Fluency check-ins with decodable passage readings  

• A variety of comprehension checks  

  • Monitoring student participation during the Go Deep discussions after Read-Aloud 

  • Conferring with campers about their Bunk Time reading 

  • Daily writing about reading activities  

  • Think More book check-ins to assess higher-order thinking skills

    • There are Think More quizzes for every Read-Aloud and Text Set book

Read-Alouds are addressed over the course of two days or two lessons to provide opportunities for close reading and build knowledge with connected text sets featuring additional trade books and decodeables.
