The top 3 aluminium recycling ideas from the debate in my opinion were; that recycling will save energy consumption, not produce as many toxic fumes as mining and also that the process can be repeated almost infinitely as aluminium doesn’t lose its properties.

The way that recycling saves energy is that in recycling you are reprocessing already extracted aluminium, this means that you don’t have to worry about using energy to extract the aluminium, refine the aluminium, transport the aluminium and then use the aluminium. In recycling you use the energy to recycle it and reuse the aluminium.

Is cheaper than recycling (unsure about that)
Technologies would improve, making the extraction of aluminium more efficient (though would also help the recycling process with updated technologies)
That 8% of the earth’s crust will last a long long time.

The point made by the people fighting for the For side that said about aluminium mining sustaining us for around 400 years before we run out compared to aluminium recyclying that would apparently sustain us for around 700 years was a good point because it shows us the real difference between the two and how one of them is incredibly beneficial for us as a species.

I agreed with Amy’s team but i thought that’d hamish had a better argument and that they knew what they’ve were talking about more and i also know that the other team got help from the team supporting no to aluminium recylcing so to speak but the team for it were better

1. Loss of jobs for aluminium miners/extractors
2. Many impurities which, even with high tech machines, cannot be filtered out
2. Labour intensive and time consuming

Lasts longer
More people have, and will die in gmining accidents then from drinking a drink from an impure aluminium can.

I agree with for recycling, and this is plainly because I have done the research on both sides and it is a much more sensible idea, plus with only one family dying of this aluminium "impurity" we cannot be sure as it is only one case.

Despite Amy’s team giving some very good facts, my vote is with Jed’s team, they gave some very strong facts and their arguments were valid and effective.

Far more cost effective to recycle aluminum than constantly mine for more of it, when eventually it will run out. An extra 500 years of mining, 1000 if we recycle

He said that profit was the real goal, but it isn’t. Isn’t it about preserving our beautiful planet? Keeping it clean for our children to enjoy buy doing things such as recycling, that release less emmisssions than mining?

I agree with recycling team because they made good points against the other team and they proved that many of their facts where false like how cans acctually became more clean when they are recycle and how eventually aluminium will be more expensive in the future and that it doesn’t release as many greenhouse gasses

I agree with recycling because recycling is far more effective than mining because as one of their arguments were that "in the future, we will have the technology to mine further down into the earth". Even if we had the technology, it will still be incredibly dangerous as temperature will increase drastically and will be expensive. It would not be worth spending all of that money to just dig for pure aluminium. High quality aluminium may not be necessary because currently aircrafts use pure aluminium. In the future, there will be better forms of transport which may not require aluminium making aluminium not worth it.
