I still think that kids should get a trophy for actually achieving something instead of getting a trophy for just showing up. I believe that because from personal experience I didn't feel accomplished when my team got a trophy just for participating. It motivated me to try even harder to get better at that sport. Another reason I say this is that there are kids that don't even try and get trophy's for putting no effort into sports, knowing that they won't get a trophy for slacking they will surly practice and train to earn a trophy. For the kids that do try their best and don't get a trophy they will get better and better even if they might feel discouraged, because they are really trying their best and surly they won't give up. I know for sure that kids like getting trophy's but like I said, if kids know that their just gonna get a trophy anyways they'll give up and just not even try. It's like going through life with ease , it's like being hired for a job and you get paid for doing nothing.

I think that kids should get trophy's so they can try harder to reach there goal of being a sports man that can play a sport they get to see how fun it is to play some thing new and it also makes there son want to see the outside world and they can help people understand that you should do something fun that takes place out side .

I think that kids should get participation trophy because they might feel discouraged and give up and what if they tried there best if they don't get a trophy they feel like they are not good enough. It also teaches them that as long as you tried your best your a winner. getting a trophy also can boost their confidence and if it makes them happy why not give them one for making a effort and contributing to the team.

I agree with Luke Dunn. Kids should only get a reward if they earn it, there for if they don't get one they'll encourage themselves and others to keep trying, but activity's are not just for getting rewards, there for being proud of what you have accomplished and for working together.

I think kids should still get trophy even if they didn't win. Knowing some kids they try hard but don't meet there goals. If kids try hard and don't get a trophy they might get discouraged and give up on a sport that they might really like. So if they get a trophy they might get more excited and try more things and inside they should always feel like a winner

I think that kids should get trophies because when they don't get a trophy they might think that they are not good at the sport. If they got a trophy they would think that they tried their best and they would try harder. If they didn't get it they might not even try because they might think they are the reason the team lost. What I know about kids is that they like getting trophies. Even if they loose they would still feel like a winner because they got a trophy. I want everyone to feel like they are the star of the game and if they don't get a trophy they won't feel like that. They might feel that they are not important to the team.

My opinion from the article is that everyone deserves to be awarded in many different ways, like kids get a partcipation trophy beacause, if they don't win a compettion it will still make them feel like if they won and won't make them feel down and they won't wana quit on the team! Also, they can feel like they acomplished something and feel included. Finally, from my personal experience in hip - hop, they gave us a participation medal for attending and so we can feel encouraged to not quit.

I think they shouldn't get a participation trophy because it will show them to work harder and earn a real trophy not just a little participation trophy and if they don't like the sport they could find one there really good at.

Yes because it doesn't matter who wins or not they should get rewarded with a trophy so they can't feel I'm not good at this sport and quit. they should have fun and get trophies so they can't quit.

Yes because for participation they did all that hard work nothing they at least try there best and it is the best sport that they ever played because it will make kids sad if don't get a trophy if so got a winning trophy it would not be fair to the team

I think that kids should get a trophy for participation because I think it would be rude not to give kids a trophy for trying their best at a sport that they are doing. Or something that they are participating in.

I think kids should not get a participation trophy because they did not win it's about being fun and winning and it dose not help that much like for example when I was in a foot ball tournament and my team did good but we didn't get first place we got 2nd place and it was fine nobody was mad or sad and we had fun we just said to the 4th graders do better next year because we were not going to be there next year. Once we heard about the participation trophy we thought we are not going to take the mockery of a trophy but and coaches thought it was not the best idea too. It also teaches you that not every thing is going to be handed to you even though you didn't earn it and that my opinion

I think that kids should get a participation trophy because, you should show them that you support them and, that you appreciate for all the work they do and, all the effort they put in to win the trophy and, they're just kids trying. Adults are older and, they know better than kids.

I think this article was cool and good it tells you a lot about not wanting trophies and wanting trophies just like when Luke Dunn said no it don't feel right you got to earn it. Then Olivia Thompson said yes kids should be rewarded for trying their best. Luke Dunn said no participation trophies send the wrong message. I think every one should get a trophy because some people can't walk or move and they want to have trophy to so that they can show people there trophy and it's fair too the whole world.

my opinion is both because sometimes in soccer they give a trophy for first place but it is messtup for others because they feel bad not winning a trophy and they wiil think they are not good at sports but i say that everyone should get a trophy.

My opinion from the article is not everybody should get a trophy I think that the only people that earn it should get it and also only the people that participate and put in effort, because if other people just sit there doing nothing there letting the other people do the work for them so that the people that don't put effort get a trophy that's not fair because they didn't deserve that only the people that participate should get a trophy.

My opinion was i can't believe when i heard about the article talking about James Harrison only gives trophyies to the winners i will say is not fair to only gives trophy to the winners all sport is a group any kind not just soccer everything should give a trophy to every body work together
