Step 1 – Choose Your Focus

Decide whether you want to talk about:

• A close friend (qualities that make a good or bad friend)

• A partner (qualities that make a healthy or unhealthy relationship)

Step 2 -Make two lists (20 in total):

• Green Flags: qualities you value (things you like or love)

• Red Flags: qualities you reject (things you hate or prefer to avoid)

Step 3 – Read the explanation in the yellow note.

Step 4- Express the ideas from your List using Gerunds and Infinitives. Be extracareful with what is more specific and more general. It it's helpful, check the example in the green note.

Red Flags

1. I hate dealing with a partner who keeps avoiding serious conversations.

2. I don’t like to argue every time we disagree on issues.

3. I dislike being with someone who enjoys controlling how I spend my time.

4. I prefer not to live with a woman who refuses to take responsibility for her mistakes.

5. I hate feeling ignored when my partner prefers to hide her problems instead of talking about them.

Remember

• I remember apologizing after our fight.

• I remember to apologize before she left.

Forget

• She’ll never forget arguing with him last night.

• She forgot to call him after the argument.

Regret

• He regrets raising his voice during the fight.

• He regrets to tell her that he can’t come tonight.

Stop

• He stopped yelling when she started crying.

• He stopped to yell at the neighbor about the noise.

Try

• She tried explaining her side calmly.

• She tried to explain before he hung up.

Go on

• They went on arguing even after the apology.

• They went on to discuss their plans for the future.

Mean
