My shift today was from 10am till 6pm. I was introduced to the boss and staffs of Hotel Seri Malaysia by Mrs Seha, the Chief Clerk. After that, i was introduced to the housekeeping Manager, Mrs Maistah. I was given a brief explanation on the housekeeping department. There are 3 categories of rooms which are 'Vacant Clean(VC)' which are not occupied by guests, 'Vacant Dirty(VD)' which have been occupied by guests and they have checked out and 'Occupied Dirty(OC)' which means there are guests in the room. For today, I was asked to check 'Vacant Clean(VC)' rooms. to check vacant clean room, I have to sweep the rooms and spray air freshener. This routine will be done once everyday. My shift today also from 10am till 6pm. Today i was asked to clean the room with my co-worker. I was asked to clean the washroom. There are place to shower and also toilet attached together.I wet the place and after that I use the toilet washing liquid to wash the washroom. After washing the washroom, I use a towel to wipe the mirror, the toilet bowl and dry the washroom. After that, i arranged the washroom tools which are two soaps, a shower cap, a conditioning shampoo and a sanitary bag near the sink. I also wrap the toilet tissue in triangular way and hang it in the space provided.  I help my co-worker to set up the room. It is also stated the 'occ' room that we should clean. 'Occ' room means rooms that are still occupied by guests and we should ask the if they would like to clean their room. Today I arranged the table set which consist of complimentary drink for guests. I arranged two nescafe packs, creamer, lipton tea bag and sugar. Today i was taught by my co-worker Syakiroh on how to set up a bed. There are 3 layers of bed sheet that should be used to set up a bed. A double bed sheet is firstly placed followed by blanket and then another double bed sheet. After that, the layers are turned twice so that the pillows can be placed there. After that, the remaining bed sheet below are stuffed properly below the bed to make it look neat. The bed are also smoothed using our hands so that it looks neat and no wrinkles can be seen. After our work is done around 3.30pm, Haslina explained about the things in our housekeeping trolley to me. There are 3 deck. The first deck are filled with toilet items such as soap, conditioning shampoo, sanitary bags and etc.The second deck are filled with single bed sheet while the third desk are filled with double bed sheet. At the sides of the trolley are filled with garbage bag and tissue rolls while the other side is to place used cloths. There are 2 ways of folding the towels since there are two different towels used by 'Hotel Seri Malaysia'. One towel is with the logo of 'Seri Malaysia' while the other one is without the logo. We divide the clothes into bed sheet, blanket, rag cloth. After that, we count each of the clothes and put all of them into a bed sheet and tied them up into a bundle. 'Maid Room Report' is our timetable which consists on the number of the rooms that we have to clean. It also consists of the time in and out of each rooms, towels, coffee set, bed sheets, laundry bags, mineral water, pillowcase, bathmat and others that are in and out. 'In' means replaced by new things while 'Out' means used things and needs to be cleared. I have to fill in the number of 'in' and 'out' for each room. For example, for room 324, I wrote at the towel section, 2 'in' which means 2 new towels are replaced in the room while 2 'out' which means the towels have been used by the guests and need to be cleared.
