N = I would like to more about the developmental stages expressed by Gardner and Boix Mansilla. The developmental stages that begin with common sense of knowledge and moves towards with interdisciplinary projects seems like an interesting path to move students towards transdisciplinary learning. The transition and growth is an interesting topic as we are retraining the educational process.
E = I'm excited about the shift in thinking and the "open canvas with an infinity of options." It is common that teaching and learning are quite linear, but in these units, revisiting concepts can be massively helpful to students. Similarly to the narrator, I can struggle to balance the time of the subject knowledge with the central idea, but what is exciting is there is opportunity to improve and focus on the capabilities of my students.
W = In the report about work skills, I worry that the focus on work skills pigeon holes students to have traditional educational paths and futures opposed to looking at outside of the box future professions. Students definitely need to learn certain skills that help them professionally, but I worry that the label of "work skills" may overly guide students' thinking about their futures.
S = I suggest that I take some time to do some of the NanoPDs. Even though the NanoPDs weren't a focus in the video, I think that using the NanoPDs would be very helpful for me to break down barriers and transfer from the" moving from" to the "moving towards" skills.

N: When having a skill to teach or a lesson/topic/subject that we don’t see how to fit within a transdisciplinary unit, would it be enough to relate it or point out the relevance it may have in real life, (or at least try to do it)?E: It excites me that more and more educators, parents, and leaders are realizing that modern world needs new human talent, people who can use a transdisciplinary approach to be successful and make our world a better one.W: It worries me that we try to overdo our teaching/learning process. I believe transdisciplinary learning could be easier than past ways of learning. However, it does require a lot of planning and I believe finding time to do everything we want is a struggle.S: Making sure that time is provided so that educators may their best to include stand-alone subjects/ideas/topics within this transdisciplinary learning process. Collaboration is wonderful, you learn so much from peers and the community. However, there is hard to find the time to do it continuously. Besides, all plans and ideas (from teachers, students, and the community in general) should be saved for new teachers/teams.

N = What do you need to know more about? I am still wrapping my thoughts around "An open canvas with infinity of options." I like to backward plan, but infinity- non-linear planning does not seem appealing. Just seeing the graphic was not enough.
E = What excites you? I am excited about moving away from specialization. Transdisciplinarity requires a shift from passing down knowledge to the creation of new knowledge. This requires increased collaboration for learning and solving local and global problems.
W = What worries you? I worry that most of our schools are not structured for transdisciplinary learning. I am concerned that our agrarian, assembly line system is fearful and stuck. When stuck, it is challenging to embrace disruptive and innovative drivers in order to provide advanced and internationally minded context for learners. It is imperative that our education system, un-silo our students, collaborate internationally not only for individual's edification, but humanity's survival.
S = What suggestions do you have moving forward?
Our school teams are good at planning for the learner experience. However, while we engage families, we do not collaborate with them and rely on them to also support the students' learning experiences. My suggestion is that we involve parents and community members in the classroom as guest speakers, consultants and planners of lesson celebrations to include them in the process, rather than just inviting them as guests.

Are we giving them enough time? Are we designing lessons/activities that foster collaboration?

N: What do I need to know more about? I like to learn more about how to use the standards to drive the creation of a unit and how we can then help students to create new knowledge and logic from this unit. I would like to see examples of new knowledge that was created from a transdisciplinary unit. Instead of having a performance assessment, perhaps have the performance assessment in the beginning stages as new knowledge is created. What would that look like?
E: What excites me? I find the idea of setting up units of study that incorporate all of the core subjects and special area classes exciting. It is a very creative approach to learning that will reach all students and their varied learning styles. The learning will be that much deeper having incorporated all the subjects/arts.
W: What worries me? The amount of time and effort that goes into planning these units will be very challenging for teachers to manage, along with the other many committees, clubs, grade level meetings, etc.
S: What suggestions do I have? Across the district, allow IB schools to have set times within the school day to work on IB. I am not sure how that would work or look like, but it is essential for this to work.

Need Know More AND What Excites Me-I would like to know more about Gardner's developmental stages as they relate to TD learning/instruction. I loved the sweets metaphor and would definitely use it alongside the "open canvas with infinity of options" for a school-wide training on breaking down their current planners or crafting new UOI.
W-How authentic is the collaboration that is taking place
a. between grade level teachers
b. between the students
c. teacher to student
d. special teachers with gen ed
My biggest worry is teachers are so consumed and pressured with the task of getting through each quarter's content standards, that true, meaningful collaboration is not taking place. Are we still just closing our doors and doing what it takes to get our standards cover and ticking off boxes? Time constraints, top down pressures, hijacked collaborative time, diagnostic & state testing etc are real factors.
S-Moving forward, I would recommend my school reflect on their grade level collaborative meetings. I think a revamp of how our collaborative time is spent is needed. I would like to see more vertical planning of units and inclusion of special class teachers in the process. We would benefit from some PD on horizontal, vertical and student collaboration, as well as a more clearly defined role that every staff member from admin to coordinator, to parent, student, community stake holder etc plays in the development of meaningful POI.
