Mildred D. Taylor
Historical Fiction
For me, the most memorable part of Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry was at the very end when TJ's life was on the line and the kids were rushing to find him help. Stacey knew that he couldn't save him on his own so he sent Cassie back home to bring the help of Momma and Papa. It's good to know when you can't do something on your because in the end you still do the right thing.

Angie Thomas
Realistic Fiction
The Hate U Give is a strong and powerful novel focusing on today's issue of dealing with race. Star, a young high schooler, witnesses the murder of her best friend Khalil and is determined to fight for his justice. Since Khalil was no longer with them, Star stepped up and took charge of the situation. Following along on her journey is emotional and heart breaking but leaves such a strong message that is still important and meaningful.

Shirley Jackson
Fantasy and Horror
An eerie novel written by Shirley Jackson captures each and every moment that was spent in Hill House. As four complete strangers begin to spend more time in this chilling house, they realize that something bigger is occurring than they had originally planned. They first started to notice the celestial activity from very small signs. For example, every day they roamed through the entire house prying open all doors, and within the hour, they were all shut. No one else was in the house and no windows were open to let in a draft, so who closed the doors? As you follow along with their chilling adventure, you may be frightened, but you will be grasping for more, dying to find out what happens next. And trust me, nothing is what it seems.
