Its capital is the city of Batangas.

It lies in a small plain on the west bank of the Calumpang River about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the coast of Batangas Bay, which issues through straits ultimately into the South China Sea. The city is connected with Manila, about 70 miles (110 km) north, by good roads and by coastwise shipping and is the northern terminus of regular ferry service to Calapan on Mindoro.

Batangas is a trade and food-processing centre for an agricultural area made fertile by volcanic soil—rice, sugarcane, and coconuts being the major crops and beef cattle the major livestock. The city also has fisheries and an oil refinery. At the nearby village of Santa Rita are lumber mills.

When I was in high school, my school was in Batangas. It is a well-known school, Stonyhurst Southville International School. And I live far away from this school. I had a service that would fetch me going to school and coming back home. I traveled a long route and repeatedly passed by it for years. As a person from Mabini, I had to bypass Bauan and then Batangas. And I had only observed four hospitals. There were two hospitals in Mabini, one in Bauan and one in Batangas (according to my route). 

I find this very troubling. I believe that wherever the hospital is, it is only convenient to those who live near it. In addition, the two hospitals in Mabini are primary hospitals. Therefore, if an individual is in critical condition, one would be sent to Bauan or, if not, to Batangas. So, the struggle is real. However, these helpful ways are not impossible to achieve. Time is gold. And we Batangueños are efficient. As we try to achieve such goals, in the meantime, we may address these issues by resolving the minor problems that make this issue bigger. For instance, in our barangay, there is no proper waste disposal. There are a few but, if you'd see it, you might want to remove it - because it's a mess, and people nearby do not dare to fix it.
