This process was very beneficial because it made me take a larger look at a classroom setting. More often than not, we as educators get ambitious about plans that we have in a perfect situation. Not every class is perfect and we have to accommodate for that. The classroom management plan forced me to think about this and what I might do. If I never think about all the situations then I will never learn and become a good educator for my students. 

One of the things I need to work on because it has been brought to my attention because of this, is how I accommodate those who need it. Making sure everyone is comfortable in every situation is important. In student teaching I have yet to see how teachers truly handle differentiation and I can not speak on that. I want to see first hand how special education truly works in a classroom. How can I learn and improve if I haven’t experienced it yet? This assignment has put that in front of me and I have had to think about what I will do when I really don’t know. I think a lot of what I have mentioned starts with the parents too and having that open conversation with what they feel should be done will help me as a new teacher because they know their child best. We talked about how parent teacher relationships are and I plan to capitalize on that to help me. 

I have three white boards at the front of the classroom to have a large space for writing and notes. As a history teacher I will have a lot of notes that I will have to write a lot, I wanted space for that. I will have a smart board as well to project my notes and games for the students. I have cubbies in the back half of the class for students to store their belongings. I would also have cabinets above the cubbies where I could keep my belongings for lessons and activities I can do for the students. I have a couch in the back for students who need a change of scenery for students having a rough day or for break out groups. The same goes for the table and chairs in the back. This area is for students that might need remediation or extra help on assignments due to IEP’s or other accommodations. I have different seating for different students' needs, like couches for comfort, stools so students stay away, and handicap friendly seating. The room is spread out enough where students are safe and comfortable as well. 

This layout helps student behavior because they are comfortable in the environment that the classroom creates. It also helps me as an educator having different stations that suit different students' special needs and wants from a classroom. Because the environment fits everything needs, this will create a positive classroom climate. The different seating allows students to feel open and comfortable where we can create a relationship that produces positive outcomes for both me and the student. Every student will have equal opportunities because they will choose what seating they want based on their day rather than set seating preferences. If there is one area that has more attention, I will be sure to make a rotation for that area where all students use it equally and there is no fuss.

Classroom Procedures:

1. Come into class quietly and work on bell ringer

2. Place exit tickets on the cart at the door as you are leaving

3. Have notebooks and writing utensils ready before I walk into the classroom

4. Read the agenda for the day on the board before starting class

5. Raise your hand to ask to use the bathroom

1. Green light

   1. Quiet and paying attention, class is modeling good behavior and is being productive in class. Students may have ten minutes of extra free time to complete other work or activities and have a choice in a game for review

2. Yellow Light

   1. Slightly out of control: This is a student's warning prior to getting a red light. I will verbally warn the students what is to come and make them aware they need to be on the focus.

3. Red Light

   1. Loud and disruptive, class has been distracting and off task, after a warning they are still choosing not to change. The class will be silent for the remainder and will losing free time at the end of class
