i don’t really mind where our threads are, walls, pms, or rooms. i would prefer rooms just to keep the rp active and getting us both some points, but i really don’t mind wherever. i do prefer to plot in group pms and keep any potential triggering or nsfw plots to pms. i also don't use brackets when talking in group pms lol i expect it to be ooc anyway.i would prefer if you came to me with a plot in mind, and i will try and do the same. plotting is usually not too hard for me to do, but sometimes i can get quite stumped. winging is fine, but i am still quite new to it so it can blind-side me a bit ghjfb

The moons passed by in a swirling frenzy, one after another until the days had gotten shorter, the wheat fields turned gold, and the deciduous trees turned a royal hue of reds and yellows, while the coniferous stayed their same ever green.

This was what Jaeyeol focused on as the days went by.

Jaeyeol was not a man of great patience nor composure, and some may say that he was not even a man, though he was over the age of marriage and courtship, he remained the same as he was when he was merely a boy attending Sungkyunkwan. Jaeyeol begged to disagree, but he was also not the type to check his own biases when it came to personal matters.

So when the investigation regarding his father's disappearance in the spring had come to a halt, Jaeyeol needed something to keep his teeth in tact, from how much he ground them down and clenched his jaw. He was close to exploding, and that day seemed like a good one as any to do so.

Because, as Jaeyeol woke up that morning, a rare day off from work (he had only been off because he was forced to leave, overwork was starting to create mistakes), the Son household would forever be changed.

"Jaeyeol-ah," The voice had boomed across the dining hall, and Jaeyeol had seen him then.

"Uncle?" Jaeyeol spoke, perhaps rather out of turn. He immediately stopped where he stood, eyes unable to catch up to the world around him. The solemn faces of his mother and siblings, the world spun. "H—How...?"

"I will take your impoliteness as shock and excitement to see your uncle once more, rather than the disrespect I hear." Son Yunmin's voice slithered through the dining hall as he ate his meal, bigger than anyone else's plates. "Take a seat. Your mother will tell you everything as you ate."

Jaeyeol always had an appetite, to the point his sisters would call him a glutton. He was a growing boy, what could he say? Growth never stops, even at 21. Yet, the food had never looked more unappetizing. Perhaps it was due to the stench of liquor pervading his uncle's every pore, or just his mere presence that infected the food and made it enough for nausea to flood Jaeyeol's digestive tract.

"Mother," Jaeyeol sat down in his seat, after Yunmin had given him another sour look, eyes darting over to his mother's distant face. "What is going on?"

She dared give Jaeyeol a look, hidden under her brow from Yunmin's face. "Your father had left a note before his disappearance about the reinstatement of your uncle if anything had happened to him. Of course, Yunmin has agreed to step down if and when your father returns, but in the meantime, we need the support. Your uncle has the money to help us get back on our feet, and he will be able to be a regent lord over the land." Said Jayoung, tears filling her face. "We welcome him with open arms as we continue the investigation. He will be treated by all of us as if he were your father, and will fill out the duties of lord."

A silence had blanketed the Son household's dining table, the only sounds coming from Yunmin as he ate his full, the signature Son appetite giving him the fuel to enact whatever he pleased over their family. Jaeyeol wasn't so sure if either his mother or his uncle was telling the truth, and only one of them had the habit to lie.

"I see," was all Jaeyeol could say. There was not much else to do, but eat whatever he could, and continue his day like normal. His uncle would sit in his father's chair, read his father's books, perhaps even wear his clothes. Yunmin would become Jaeyeol's new father, in a way, though Jaeyeol shuddered at the idea. It was supposed to feel like nothing would change, yet, the space his father left behind only grew larger and larger. Eventually, it would take the entire house down with it.

Jaeyeol had to do everything he can to prevent that happening.

He would have to become the new Lord of Jindo. /Jaeyeol/ would have to be the one to fill that space.

And stop at nothing to find his father.

What is there not to say about Song Narae and Son Jaeyeol? The two had been friends since they were young, Jaeyeol often tagging along his father's trips around Joseon helping those in need and getting errands. Often he would stop by the Song smithy, to get tools he needed and weapons for his travels. Jaeyeol was good friends with Narae's brother, Jaeguk, and the three of them would often play as Jaeyeol's father would work.

Yet, it was a day by the river, when Jaeyeol was standing not so far away. Narae and Jaeguk arguing over God knows what, and then... Red. So much red.

Jaeyeol had never asked to go with his father to any of his trips anymore, especially to the Song smithy. His father seemed to understand. After all, Jaeyeol's best friend was no longer there.

Time wasn't kind to him or Narae, and when Jaeyeol had found out that enough was enough, his father was missing and his uncle was running around their house like a tyrant... After Jaeyeol had tried everything he could think of to take back what was rightfully is—

He went to Narae.

Jaeyeol's mother is related to the Moon clan, making Jaeyeol and Hyeongwon cousins. However, Jaeyeol saw Hyeongwon as more of an annoying friend than anything else. They would grow up together every once in a while, enjoying each other's company, despite how much they both pretended to hate it.

Jaeyeol's father would often source his ginseng from the Im family, keeping in good relations with Baekho and the family at large. Jaeyeol, while on his trips with his father, would come to be acquainted with the Im family, too, especially Seohyang. Their friendship was innocent and young-spirited. Jaeyeol loved to talk to her more than anything, hearing her different perspective to things he never knew. Perhaps it would've been better for both of them if everything ended there.

It was destiny for Yang Seoyul to be in Son Jaeyeol's life in some way. With both of their fathers as Royal Physicians, they often found each other in their lives. The two would often play together as children, but when they both hit puberty, things would change. Jaeyeol had become increasingly aware that Seoyul was a girl, and that certain parts of girls he found to be frivolous, unnecessary, and annoying. And, in a way, Seoyul was the embodiment of these things.

Becoming teenager drove a stake into their friendship, as they both began their pathways down to adulthood that just didn't involve the other.

Yet, when Jaeyeol was faced with the decision of letting his tyrannical uncle run free through their house or get married to take over the head of the household position, Jaeyeol went to an old friend for marriage prospects. Though he did not trust her quality of work, at least he didn't care about her opinion of him when he would eventually be embarrassed... Right?
