Charles was a french political philosopher who greatly impacted the world by sharing his views and ideas. He also enjoyed practicing law in Paris. In 1716, he settled down to start exercising his judicial function, to administer his property and to advance his knowledge of science (geology, biology, and physics), which he studied at the academy of Bordeax. He believed that government corruption was very possible if they didn't have balanced powers.

Montesquieu believed without equal powers (judicial, executive, and legislative) that the government would be corrupt. He expressed this idea in a book called ''The Spirit Of The Laws". He also believed the purpose of government is to maintain law and order which is very important. Having law and order keeps the people safe because everyone is restricted from certain things, (such as robbing and murdering) and without law and order everything would fall apart. Another purpose of the government is political liberty which is being allowed to express yourself freely regarding the government or the way that it's run. The final purpose of the government according to Montesquieu was the property of the individual. This is what protects the rights of citizens personal property, (things they own).

How did he influence the U.S. government?

Montesquieu greatly influenced the U.S. government by introducing the idea of balanced powers. Having balanced powers helps keep the government under control in terms of power. Having the power divided keeps it more stable and government officials less likely to go power crazy.
It also helps to have more people voting on big decisions for our government. The equal powers in the U.S. government are the three branches, legislasive, executive, and judicial.

Thomas paine

I think that your idea of equal powers is a great idea and if we did not have equal power the government would have failed. Law and order is something that every government should have a system of law and order in place. I support your ideas and I think that if we come together we can form the best government in the world.
