Is odysseus heroic?

It is day 6 and we are currently boarding the ship after we have raided the island. We have lost around 30 men and we have Odyseuss to thank. If we stayed on course and not raided the island of Cicones then we wouldn't have wasted the lives of 30 men. Even though he told us to get off the island it's still his fault because it was his idea in the first place. we should have just stayed on course and not raided the island. Clearly, Odysseus is not a hero because he went off course and this caused a lot of his men to be killed.

When I first saw the Cyclops Polyphemos posydens son I was petrified the Cyclops was a giant compared to us. "We felt a pressure on our hearts, in dread of that deep rumble and that mighty man." Odysseus was of course petrified too but he grew enough courage as he was our brave leader to talk and negotiate with Polyphemus. "But all the same I spoke up in reply: We are from Troy, Achaeans, blown off course by shifting gales on the Great South Sea; homeward bound, but taking routes uncommon; so the will of Zeus would have it." I put my trust in Odysseus he is our captain he will somehow find a way to get us out of this large cave alive I just know it he has to!!

Greatest thanks to the Gods I can't comprehend that we made it out of the land of the terrible Polyphemus! I shall also thank my dearest Captain Odysseus! He was brave enough to come up with a brilliant plan to stab the terrifying Cyclops. " I drew it from the coals and four fellows gave me a hand, lugging it near the cyclops as more them; straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep in his crater eye". Odysseus yet again came up with a brilliant plan to help escape the hideous Polyphemus. " I tied the them silently together, twinning cords of willow from the ogre's bed; then slung a man under each middle one to ride there safely, shielded left and right." Once we safely boarded the ship we had 30 rams as well. We were so lucky. Everything was fine till Odysseus became a bragging fool. "Now when I cupped my hands I heard the crew in low voices protesting: Godsake captain! why bait the beast again? Let him alone!" We begged him to stop multiple times but he didn't it was as if we weren't even there! He upset Polyphemus so much that now we are all cursed to die.

Island of the beautiful Circe

We have now come upon the island of Circe worried & praying that there would not be any more Cyclops. I leave the ship to check for danger. I see lots of animals but for some reason, they aren't attacking us! all of a sudden I lay my eyes on the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her luscious locks of red hair and her adoring brown eyes. How could I be scared of such an amazing woman I asked myself. As we sat down to feast with the beautiful woman I noticed something had changed. I looked at my fellow crew members and tried to scream but all that came out was a snort!! We are all pigs! Soon after Odysseus comes to the rescue with the rest of the crew. The lady approaches Odysseus and she requests that they stay. Magically we are our normal selves again. I thank Odysseus for persuading her to turn us back. I am frustrated knowing we will be here for a while I just want to go home.

We have made it past Circe at last! We shall sail back home safely and know more men shall die. Or so we thought. All of a sudden I hear screeching and can't see anything. " But scarcely had that island faded in blue air when I saw smoke and white water with sounds of waves in tumult a sound the men heard and it terrified them." As scared as I was I trusted my captain and knew if we all listened to him we could possibly make it through. Odysseus was a great leader telling us what to do to keep us calm. " We must obey the orders as I give them." All of a sudden I saw the hideous scylla. her 6 heads and all of them look terrible. Oh no, she is coming for me. AHHHHHHHHHH.......
