Similarities are what bring us together in the world. Interpersonal relationships are something that can't always happen with everyone because there are many factors. To list a few of them they are, compatibility, communication, honesty, forgiveness and time. With these factors it could almost be a "perfect" relationship between the two. "It is essential for individuals in a relationship to get along well" (Section 7.2).

My great grandmother is a great example of someone who had a successful long relationship. She met this guy in high school and they didn't get married until they were out of college. They then waited a couple of years until they had stable jobs and then decided to have a kid and adopt a child. The fact that they gave so much time before every milestone in their lives shows that they were together for true love and wanted to make it work out for the long run. The reading mentions, "individuals in love must spend adequate time to know each other better" (Section 7.2). Which is exactly what they did.

This subject was a big topic in the reading. The textbook says, "individuals need to communicate with each other effectively for better understanding" (Section 7.2). If the communication is lacking in a relationship then that can harshly affect because that means there's somethings missing in the relationship.
