In 108 years ago was last time the cubs won a world series
The team had a 9 1/2-game lead in mid-August, but then started losing game after game
also they came back from a 3-1 lead and won by 8-7 in  Cleveland, Ohio
The last time they won a world series was from 1908 
 Fans packed into bars to watch the games

Fans watched in horror as the Cubs fell apart in the rest of the game
There were other playoff losses but none as painful as in 2003
Mets not only caught them but ended up winning the National League East by 8 games.
