Sausage- A knockwurst, or short plump sausage, is a perfect fit for a small crusty roll, making a protein-rich quick snack.
Pretzels-More commonly known as salzstangen and are a traditional type of snack. Local bakeries often make fresh soft pretzels, topped with melted butter -- with or without salt -- for a quick on-the-go snack.
Potato Pancakes-Kartoffelpuffers are small fried potato pancakes, made with shredded potatoes, salt, pepper and eggs. They’re flattened and cooked until crispy, almost like potato chips. But in Germany, locals often sprinkle a bit of sugar on them, for a sweet treat. These potato-based treats pair splendidly with a bit of applesauce for dipping and are just enough to curb your sweet tooth.
Brotchen-It is a slice of fresh baguette topped with mett, which is simply ground pork.
Pudding- Pudding in Germany is thick and dense. German pudding is made by boiling milk, starch, sugar and eggs together. As far as flavoring, they may add cocoa or vanilla to make schokoladenpudding, or vanillepudding. After the flavor is added, the mixture goes into molds and into the refrigerator until it becomes solid. Typically you’ll find this local pudding enjoyed with fresh strawberries or cherries, depending on the season.
