Hi, I am Kate and you can call me anything you like. In this padlet, I am gonna share to you games I used to play when I was a kid. I used to play luksong baka, jolen, chinese garter, luksong tinik and shatong a lot with my cousins and friends. It is part of Popular Culture in the Philippines when I was a kid. I wanf to share it to you incase you are not familiar with it, or just forgot about it. I'm sad that today's generation weren't able to experience thiw kid of fun.

Takyan or sipa is one of many traditional games in the Philippines. I used to play Takyan when I was in grade 6, year 2014. To play it, you need to kick Takyan consecutively without dropping it to the floor. The player that has the most number of kicks win! If you want to make one, Takyan can be made out of coins and straw rope or candy wrappers.

IT SHOULD BE A NATIONAL SPORT!!

Media can shape the way people see events, this is called Semiotics in popular culture. Development of media, electronic devices and internet influences culture to be irrelevant. Today's generation will not be able to experience real life fun experiences because of internet. They might be able to do more with their gadgets but having to play with friends is a core memory they can't have. This padlet can be a tool in recognizing iconic Filipino games.

Takyan has change in terms of popularity. In this generation, Takyan has not been recognize. It seems that internet can intertain children and teenagers nowadays more than dirt games. I have not seen 1 promotional video about Takyan, even if we have a lot of apps to use in our phones. Being able to grow up with games like Takyan is a great way to experience what our ancestors has been playing when they were our age. Takyan has been around since 15th century and I am sad that I couldn't see children or just thpical Filipino play it. It should be a national sport!!
