As Richie grew he expressed his love for music by learning many instruments and listening to Mexican music and rock. His favorite instrument was the classic guitar. He wrote a few songs which include "Come on, Lets Go," "La Bamba," and "Donna." He preformed these song with a bang called the Silhouettes. After the concert American Bandstand, Ritchie went o a dance party in Clear Lake, Iowa. The next was to be a concert for the tour Ritchie, Buddy Holly, and J.P. Richardson were to go on a flight to Moorhead, Minnesota. During the flight the plane crashed in a cornfield and all four people on the plane died, the pilot, Ritchie, and his fellow musicians. The day was called "The day music died," because of the love of Ritchie Valens' music gave to the people.
